Been hot in Phoenix lately 105-115. Went to Costco the other day to stock up the coffee shop, took the VDP like we always do. Was pretty hot out. Parked at the shop, unloaded, and departed 15 minutes later. Started car and immediately heard that gawdawful noise. "Oh Shi*." Get home 2 miles away, park, pop hood. "What''s that smell?" No smoke, no leaks, OK...Get to the shop yest am, zip to the day-job for an early morning case, drive in with the a/c off. Park the car and I see SMOKE- OH SHI*! again. Pop hood, pray for no flames. BIG SMOKE CLOUD. Two co-workers drive in and see the smoke. Meet up with them in locker room. One says " Tom''s got car trouble" The other says with a grin..."it''s a Jaguar". He''s a pompus fu*&. I wanted to say a rude remark but I just chuckled. He''s a surgeon that drives Tahoe. Long story short...alternator burned up (which I figured) fried the belt. AND the water pump is leaking. NOt surprising either because I''ve been topping off the coolant on a regular basis. I''d rather fry the alternator than the engine. So sad to see my car with smoke drifting from the grill, worse to see it up on the flatbed...
Now I''ll get to see how the warranty company performs and see if it was money well-spent. Car should be done Monday.
