So effortless. So easy.  Can a car get any better than that?

Hey Jack, difficult to say as I dont know what car you''re talkin bout. Have to assume the XK8...........Beautiful machine.
I was in a BMW 335 twin turbo DIESEL a month or so ago that topped out at 161 mph and was still very very smooth and felt safe.

Yeah, it was in the XK8.  At 120 mph, you''d think you were doing 65 mph.  Not the least bit scary as long you have the top up!  I had it up 135 mph with the top down last summer.  Now THAT is scary!

It''s like it''s not about how fast you go , it''s about how you go fast

I hit 120 a few months ago, when gas was only $3 a gallon. These kids got on the interstate behind me in their flat-black primered Nissan 240SX with straight exhaust. I was already in the far left lane, and they started coming over, accelerating hard. So when they got next to me, I tromped it. Man, they were trying sooo hard!

Imagine the frustration of trying to look so fast and sound so tough with your limited teenage funds, only to have some 40-something white-collar type in a stock six-cylinder, 4,000-pound luxury sedan embarrass you by pulling away and smoothly taking a curve at 120 mph. And never hear him doing it.

As I got off the interstate a couple exits later, I looked over the kids as they passed in the far left lane. The passenger looked at me in disbelief, and I gave him a smirk. ''Get out to the track and learn how to do it right, kids.''

120?? I ''ve had my old 93 XJ past that. As you said though, smooth and seemed much slower.

Nice one censport...............I bet their faces were a picture.....lol
See that a lot over here too.......young kids in their small HOT hatches that they''ve fixed up, great sounding exhaust, lowered, tints everywhere and try to burn off my 4 year old diesel with just short of 200bhp.
BIG sign on the back lets everyone know its a DIESEL.......lol
That way when you leave them for dead with your superior torque and plenty of black fumes in your wake for them to drive thru......you get a really nice feeling. Especially if you slow down ( tap the brake pedal, like 6 or 7 times pretty fast to let them know of course) and as they draw level you see the look of disbelief on their faces!!!

I bet that just made your whole day censport!

I can only imagine their reaction when they found out that a 240SX cuts off the fuel at 115mph. haha (I''ve owned 3 as track cars.)

I''ve noticed that the XK8 has a real sweet spot from 70mph to about 135mph. after 135, it just seems to die and won''t accelerate as fast.
I am really impress how stable it is just under 150. the car just hunkers down and plants itself to the pavement.
