I''m more than willing to try it, however I don''t know where to start in order to acquire a turbo and everything else to go along with it. I dont want a huge turbo that requires a intercooler. If I can get started and get it installed, maybe I''ll be the first to actually have a turbo install on the X-Type for all the world to see .

i was looking to do the same thing, but my brother talked me out of it. i could spend about 600 on exhuast, about 200 on a cold air intake or short ram, and another 150 on a performance chip plus installation fees. so thats about 1000 dollars for UP TO 30 to 40 hp gain. considering i already have 230 in my 02 xtype 3.0 awd, my brother convinced me it wasnt even worth it to jump up to MAYBE 265 ish. its not like your going to be beating any camaros or anything like that. id say, save your money its not worth it. maybe just wait until theres a supercharger for jag. that way, youd be adding more like 100 hp for 3000 bucks. more worth it for the jump up to 330 ish. i wish it was all cheaper...

It''d be worth it to me, because I love my car I''m not out to beat up on other cars, I just want more power. It was easy with my Prelude becase even though the aftermarket wasn''t huge for the Lude, when I wanted headers, CAI, exhaust, and eventually a turbo, it was easy for me to gather everything I needed. This car on the other hand, not so much. I didn''t think I''d be getting back into toying around with cars as much, which is one of the reasons I bought the X, but it looks like I want to go where no one has gone before...

I also have a 2.5L and would like a bit more horsepower. some people mentioned a catback exhaust? For someone that is non mechanical, does that mean just replacing the rear muffers such as borla''s? or do you have to replace all of the exhaust system even the headers for some gains in HP? thanks!

hankdycbr, when someone talks about a cat back exhaust upgrade, what they are referring to is replacing the exhaust system from the catalytic converters to the tail pipe. So, you are replacing about 75% of the exhaust system. As for gains, it all depends on what type of system you get and the style of muffler you go with. Yo ucan probably get about 15-25 hp gain from a decent cat back system. Chris "Thermo" Coleman

Exhaust will be one of the first mods I get done. Hopefully once I get out of here (Army Officer Candidate School) and I get some freedom again, I''ll be able to get that done. Also, I know this may be a bit much, but can the 2.5L engine be bored/stroked? I''m sure that would yield more power.

Hanky, just to make sure that I am clear on what I am saying with the cat back exhaust setup. They don''t replace your catalytic converters. You replace everything downstream of them. now, if you are looking for a bit more bang, then you can swap out the headers (between the engine and the cats) and put in some high flow cats and then you will get more. But, at the same time, you are looking at twice the cost, if not more. But, going with a set of long tube headers will give you more low end torque which will help with the line launches while still giving you more top end power. Chris "Thermo" Coleman
