new to this forum but if seems to have great help...and boy do I need it, I have a problematic xk8...oh but who doesn''t.....lol

I have a question about my 97 xk8 convertible, when I open the door the window lowers a tad but when I shut the door it does not return closed? is this a programming issue? can I fix it myself?

The windows need to be re-indexed.  Try programming it yourself.  Raise windows all the way holding switch down for at least 5 seconds after it has reached the top.  Same for bottom, lower all the way and hold the switch down for an additional 5-10 sec.  gordo

Even then, that won''t always fix the problem.
A lot of times my coupe will do that, I''ll re-index them, and the next time I open the door, the window won''t go back up.
Other times, the window won''t go down, and the entire door will go dead, but then start working in about 20 minutes.

If power is lost for 20 minutes then you are holding the switch too long in the up or down position.

You should also here a ''click'' when the window has programmed successfully in each the up, and down location. Somewhere between 3-5 seconds is a good time frame to listen.

Yeah, but it will lose power while I''m not in my car.
I''ll go out to get in it, and open the door, and nothing will work in the door.
