Still patiently looking for an XJR and may have a line on a 96, with pretty low miles (I think I heard 60 or 70k). I''m expecting to have to do various preventive maintenance things, and that is fine. But a question gnaws at me: how fragile are these cars? Are they suitable for daily highway use, or are they simply for drives to the country club on sunny summer days? If purchased this would be my primary vehicle. Thanks for any thoughts you all may have.

I have a 1996 XJ6, and it has been virtually bulletproof. And prior to premium hitting $4 a gallon I was a very aggressive driver, slicing through traffic and enjoying twisty backroads. One of the guys in my local club has an XJR, and he drives the same way, but without the benefit of the decades of racing experience that I have. He is however, a banker by trade, so he has not slowed down due to the price of gas. Remember, these were the cars that put Jaguar over Mercedes (and close to Toyota) on the J.D. Power surveys. The X300 series can take whatever you can dish out.

I have a 1995 XJR with 116,000 miles on it and as mentioned above they are bulletproof. Dependable and all around a great car. I guarantee you will thoroughly enjoy it.
