How does one access the right side headlight bulb? I tried opening it up and the bottom wire retainer popped off in the process of having to twist the cover to get the bulb in and I can''t get the lower wire retainer back on, the access is so tight. I got the bulb in and the cover back on with the upper retainer latched but the lower wire retainer could not be reinstalled. There was more room on the left side and it worked okay. I am a little worried that without the lower retainer in place, the cover will leak water into the housing.

I''ve recently changed the headlight bulbs on both sides of my ''05 XJ8 (X350). I agree that the right side might be a bit tricky to access compared to the left, but I didn''t experience what you mentioned and managed to reinstall both covers securely after changing the bulbs. Was your car the ''96 XJ6, or the ''05 XJ8?

The car is the XJ8. I figured there was some trick I wasn''t seeing but maybe I''m just not that dexterous.

Hi, i have an ''05 xj8 and i have a problem opening the right light cover after i loosen the retainer pin. Can anyone tell me how you do it? The authorise dealer in my country is charging me US$120 to replace the right headlight bulb only, even though i brought my own bulbs.
I have no problem replacing the left headlight bulb.

Xenon or regular bulb? I have xenons and they were a bit tight to replace. I have a spare headlight unit out so I can take some pics for you if you want.

its the regular bulbs. I am refering to the cover that you need to open before you can reach the bulb. The cover comes off easily on the left but i an unable to free it on the right. The space is too tight.
