So, I''m gonna service my rear differential over the 4th and just wanted to make sure there were no surprises when I get under there. I''ll be removing the bolt in the diff cover and siphoning out the old oil. The diff cover looks pretty hard to get off because of how the rear end is tucked into the rear subframe. Anybody know any good tricks on how to ge the cover off with disassembling the rear end of the car?

unfortunately the best and pretty much the only way is to remove the diff. Just remove the plug and suck out the fluid. Refill and drive around the block and then repeat a couple of times.

The best trick I know is to go to the hardware store and get a piece of thin wall brass tubing to match the siphon pump hose diameter. Take this tube and bend an angle in it (a tubing bender helps) so that you can carefully touch the bottom of the diff with it, thus being sure you get to all the old oil. Using the soft vinyl tube only makes it very hard to reach the bottom.
