Changing Diff oil in 00 S-type - 6/30/2008 9:30:34 AM    ohsigmachi   Posts: 60 Joined: 10/23/2007 Status: offline So, I''m gonna service my rear differential over the 4th and just wanted to make sure there were no surprises when I get under there. I''ll be removing the bolt in the diff cover and siphoning out the old oil. The diff cover looks pretty hard to get off because of how the rear end is tucked into the rear subframe. Anybody know any good tricks on how to ge the cover off with disassembling the rear end of the car? Post #: 1

Just remove the plug and suck out the fluid. Refill and drive around the block and then repeat a couple of times. _____________________________ If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!! RE: Changing Diff oil in 00 S-type - 7/2/2008 10:30:32 AM    oldmots   Posts: 67 Joined: 6/30/2008 Status: online The best trick I know is to go to the hardware store and get a piece of thin wall brass tubing to match the siphon pump hose diameter. Take this tube and bend an angle in it (a tubing bender helps) so that you can carefully touch the bottom of the diff with it, thus being sure you get to all the old oil.
