The lincoln ls and s-type share the same platform not the x-type and ls so I''d say it''d be fun to get the v8 from the ls into the x-type...man would a terminator (03-04 cobra) motor be fun in a 2wd version of the x-type or what?  It''d be like an x-type on steroids, hgh, alcohol and crack all at the same time! LOL

If I am going to go through that much hassle, then I am dropping a Ford/jag engine all together and going the bad boy, a twin turbo 3.8L V6 from out of a Buick Grand National.  Bore it out to about 4.2L, crank up the boost and enjoy the 700+ hp.  Now that would be a fun project.  The V6 would be small enough that it would more than likely fit under the hood with no major problems.  The big issue then is will the body hold that kind of power?  Might have to do some serious body stiffening to handle that kind of power.

From my understanding the S-Type used the original Jaguar S-Type/MkII chasis from the sixties, and the X-Type used the Mondeo chasis from Ford.
I may be wrong but that is what I have been told and that is why you get a lot more road/tire noise in the X-Type than you get in the S-Type, and the S-type is a lot more stable on cornering.

This is inaccurate.

The S-Type is on the same chassis as the Lincoln LS.  At one point there was talk of using that chassis for larger Mazda sedan as well, but that did not pan out.  It was used, albeit heavily modified again, for the Ford 500 concept.

The X-type is on the Europe only Ford Mondeo chassis.  The Ford Contour was also on an older Mondeo chassis, and in SVT trim was a very capable, if very mildly styled car.

Perhpas the largest difference between the two chassis (and the primary reason you cannot interchange any drivetrain parts) is that the S-type is a rear drive paltform, while the X-type is a FWD or AWD platform.

You cannot be serious biggie?  Perhaps you should pop your hood and check things out!  Let me know what emblem you see posted just as much if not more than jaguar!  How could you even ponder hating ford is the question?
