layne87 -> 97 xk8 will not start (7/3/2008 8:01:28 AM)

I have a 97 xk8 with 65k miles in the shop....they say it has fuel pressure and fire but will not start...engine fault codes are as follows 300,302,304,1316,0116,0125...I live in the middle of nowhere with no jag experience in the area..any help greatly appreciated...

I realize the misfire codes on 2 and 4 cylinder but plugs have been changed and coil checks ok as per mechanic by ohms checking...can the temp codes be preventing the start up??

thanks in advance...

I looked up all your codes and drew the potential conclusion that the engine overheated first.  Several times the mention of low compression came up.  Did the tech look at that?  Do you have access to the JTIS DTC charts?  They list the potential causes by each code.

sounds like your engine is extremly flooded.. i have had several.. cars coming from reputive jag shops.. and they can get it started.. and after 1 hr or 2 of babying the engine..  i finally get it started.. but if the walls of the cylinders have been washed down too many times.. then may need an engine..
have they check to see if the chains are intact?  remove the cam covers and take a peek.

Go to my webpage and go to Nikasil and you may find the information you need.  Good Luck!
