2002 VDP How do I remove the serpentine belt? I know there is a tensioner, but I am not sure how to loosen it. Also, once I get it off, can I "lock" the tensioner in position so I won''''t have to try and put pressure on it? Does anyone know where I can get one without having to go to a dealer? I also have 100,000 plus miles on the young lady. What is all needed for maintenance? (filters, plugs, etc) and again, can I go to an Auto Zone or like to purchase these items? What brands do you recommend?

If you look on the tensioner, you will see a bolt on the front holding the pulley in place (may have a slot that a metal bar will go in to also, Jaguar seems to use 2 different mounting techniques). Using either a ratchet or the metal bar, rotate the tensioner in the counter clockwise direction. THis will cause the tensioner to loosen its tension. While holding the tensioner off of the belt, pull the belt off of atleast 1 accessory. Release the tensioner (unfortunately, there is no "hold" position on it). Remove the belt completely. Install the new belt following the same belt run and before installing the belt on the last accessory, reinstall the tool, move the tensioner again like you did to remove the belt and install the belt on to the last accessory. Slowly release the tensioner to apply tension to the belt. Chris "Thermo" Coleman
