So the old cat is in the Dealer for repairs and I get the great idea that it might be time to get out of it by trading it in on a XJ8. I call the sales guy and he goes and takes a squint at my XJ which is in better than average shape for the year...

With baited breath I await the generous offer on my almost classic....

$2000.00 and the sage advice to not spend any more money on this car as it''s too old and the 200,000 Kms. it has on it guarantee I will face yet more expenses and problems until it simply dies.

I am now at the point of loosing over $4000.00 on the deal factoring in the trade in allowance of $2000.00 It just gets better and better. The salesman assures me they won''t even try to sell my old cat as the reconditioning costs outweigh the value.

There doesn''t seem to be any way out of this thing. It''s like a Stephen King novel... Seems there''s a direct gate from Hell at Browns Lane where these cars ooozed out of.

You can''t sell it, you can''t trade it, and despite parking it unlocked with the keys in the ignition in the worst neighborhoods you can''t even get it stolen!
