Test drove a SC XF last weekend and am going back this afternoon for closer scrutiny. This forum has given me some excellent ideas on what to look for. My Mercedes E55 has about 5 months left before it comes off warranty. I am considering the XF SC for my next car. I have heard rumors of a 5.0L "R" type coming out in the next 9 months. Any knowledge of differences between the 2 cars and any insight into a release date? Thanks!

The E55 has a more luxurious feel to it....more tactile buttons, Auto trunk operation, nicely bolstered seats. The E55 also has more low down grunt. It takes no prisoners. That being said, the XF in sport mode feels wicked fast too and the transmission blows away the E55. To be fair to Merc, the E63 is supposed to have a better transmission than its predecessor. The Jag clearly out handles the MB and the overall result is a higher fun factor.

Difference will definitly be in HP. They are saying possibly 550HP on the XFR. Likely different suspension calibration, diff and body kit. Also interior trim differences and bigger brakes. Until it comes out, that is up for debate.
