can anyone tell me what brand and type of atf  TO ADD TO MY 98 xk8, and what is the best way to add to the trani? Not going to dealer, so no thanks to anyone with that suggestion.

Intro yourself above in the new members sextion
1997-2002: XK series with 4.0L normally aspirated
1998-2003.5: XJ with 4.0L normally aspirated:                           Type LT 71141, Part No. JLM 20238  or Valvoline MaxLife ATF

 

or Call your dealer

If you not going to dealer, good luck getting fluid. It is Esso fluid.
Perhaps Ken at Motor cars ltd has it for sale. Check the vendor page.

I have it for $14.20 per qt.  Adding it is not that easy.  Are you familar with the trannys on these cars?
