Basically this is a Jag forum, so we are all assuming your going to hold on to your jag for years and years, so it hardly matters what others think of it being in an accident, as long as you love the car. But if you were planning on selling it or trading it in soon, than yea stick it out with the insurance company, otherwise I would just take care of the damage courtosy of the other persons insurance company.

(I can''t post anything longer than a couple of sentences now for some reason) I love my car - don''t plan on selling it. I wouldn''t get even as much as those ebay cars if I tried now that it has been in an accident. My pristine dream car is no longer pristine.

Now, I plan on getting a DB9 in the next couple of years, after I get my wife a Continental GT. If someone hits my DB9, I will probably go to jail.(Yes, I plan on keeping my XKR 100...)

M4rc3l, very hard to hear about your accident and rsc above, but glad each of you did not get hurt badly. You will, however, M4, find it difficult to talk about something you dont'' have anymore, trust me. I tried it with my old photography forum when I got rid of all of my minolta/sony gear, and I wasn''t able to contribute the same as I did. I eventually stopped going by the site because it was frustrating to do so. RSC, I had a rear end collision 1 week after I had the car, but not to the extent of what you did. Just minor bumper damage was the result for me, which will never be found. If the diminished value of your car is that significant, I would definately go the attorney route, if nothing else then to have them contact geico for you with an offer...makes your intent that much more serious. I doubt they would pay anything over repairs or a totalled car for a car that has collector''s value.

Sorry to hear about your accident, M4rc3l. I''ve long campaigned that drivers should be retested upon license renewal, especially elderly drivers. I''m glad you weren''t seriously hurt, and I even hope the other driver''s wife will be okay (and that she will take her husband''s car keys away). Very pristine Jags turn up all the time. One guy brought out his just-purchased XJ40 to the local British show this past October. It had been tucked away in a garage and had less than 45,000 miles on it. It was stunning. Just be patient, keep looking and be willing to travel.
