HELLO ALL,

JUST PURCHASED AN IMMACULATE 03 S-TYPE R.  I BELIEVE IT IS WHAT YOU GUYS CALL "QUARTZ".  I WOULD ATTACH A PIC IF I COULD FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO IT.  I''VE ONLY DRIVEN IT A FEW MILES BUT I AM QUITE IMPRESSED.  I SPENT A FEW DAYS BROWSING THIS FORUM AND WANT TO THANK ALL FOR HELPING ME MAKE MY DECISION.  I WAS FIRST A LITTLE SCARED ABOUT RELIABILITY, BUT FOR WHAT I PAID FOR THE VEHICLE, I PURCHASED A 3YR/36K MILES EXCLUSIONARY WARRANTY.  THE ONLY QUESTION WAS THE BRAKES.  I BELIEVE I WILL NEED SOME NEW BRAKES IN THE NEXT 5000-8000 MILES.  WHICH LEADS ME TO A QUICK QUESTION.  AM I STUCK WITH TAKING THIS CAR TO THE DEALER FOR A BRAKE JOB? OR DO I HAVE OTHER OPTIONS?  THANKS IN ADVANCE.

JAY

A good mechanic should have no probs doing the brakes on that model.

Welcome and congrats on the Jag. I have the same car and enjoy driving it everyday.
The brake pads are easy to change on the 03 STR. You just need to remove two pins located on the calipers and then swing the caliper upwards. The pads can then be removed easily.
I recommend purchasing a set of Akebono Ceramic Pads. They will practically eliminate the dreaded brake dust inherent on the 03 STR from the Brembo OEM pads.

Hey Cadillac,  I notice that you have a Rolls Royce icon in your posts.  Do you have a Rolls Royce??
