Hey there fellow jag lovers , i am new to this forum and this is my first post . i have a 90 xj40 with a leak in the oil cooler . i was told i didnt need one , so my ? is should i plug the lines and if i do will it stop oil flow to other parts of the motor or should i just cut the lines a few centimeters from the oil filter and run a high preasure rubber hose in a small loop to ensure proper flow ?
Thanks in advance for any help
    Kris

It''s probably just o-rings.  You have to watch destroying the threads on the oil cooler when removing the lines.

well the leak is in the oil cooler , not the oil cooler lines , so i think the o rings are good (pliable and werent leaking from that area ) but you are right about those brittle alumanum threads i wouldnt even bother . if i were to replace the oil cooler i would do new lines too .

I chopped the lines about 5 cm from the block ran some high preasure oil line in a loop to ensure proper flow (it cant be blocked or there goes my block ) Was told it only needed it when towing or driving through the alps ( of wich i will not be doing ) saved 10 pounds woooOOOOoooo Better gas milage .....lol again you are a very smart group

Thanks again
lol
