Hello all.  new to these cars.  I have a 97 XK8 conv that today threw an error code.  I left off from a light and floored it to see if it would burn out around the corner and the car seemed to hesitate BIG TIME then threw a organge light and ASC message on the speedo display.  The moment I let off the gas some it ran fine and I was on my way no more error mess or orange light.  Any idea?  I tried to duplicate the issue and could not.

Did you get the Engine Symbol or the restricted performance message?

If you threw an DTCode, what was it?

Mine did that a couple times, I think I know what you were trying to do.  I turned a corner and the rear wheels broke loose in some gravel...light came on momentarily, then went away. Also did this going up my driveway in snow...not a good scenario, let me assure you. When the Dynamic Stability Control is on, it will flash when it is ''actively working'', then return to normal. I''m sure that is all it was. Test point wants to know if you got any stored error codes if you have access to a OBD II code reader.  If you ever try to ''burn out'' again, turn off your DSC... it will let you, assuming you don''t bog down again.  lol

Yes, that''s just the computer doing its job.  When wheel spin is detected it will retard acceleration, even more so if yaw is detected.  Turn off the dsc as stated above and you can tear your tires apart as much as you want.

Had the same issue, when I turned hard left while stopping the abs on the drivers front would actuate.  When that started the ABS light came on intermittently, was on about 80% of the time I drove the car, aslo had the acs / traction control not available flashing on the message board.  Started noticing that if I turned right and floored it, then the lights would go out and the car would be normal.  Solved the problem this past weekend.

Jacked the front of the car up and used brake clean and a toothbrush to clean the magnetic abs pick up rings on both front wheels, the drivers front had a greasy brake dust build up.  Also used an electronic parts cleaner to clean the abs sensor connectors and the abs sensors.  Also was getting the feeling that the ABS wires were getting stretched out so I cut the factory zip ties that hold them on the control arm and moved them out one knotch to give them about 1/2" more length at the wheels.  I''ve now driven the car about 15 times and no lights so the problem has been solved.

Suspect that the brake dust build up on the abs sensor rings was causing an intermittent signal.  Now if I can only get that damn air bag light off......
