Water leak - 4/12/2006 11:57:23 AM

Hi everyone - would really appreciate a bit of advice! I've got a really nice 1990 model Daimler 4.0 litre and I've recently started getting water coming in to the front of the front footwells (worse on the nearside). The floorpans, inner sills and windscreen pillars/seals are perfect - not even any surface corosion. Any ideas what could be the cause? Are there any drain holes which could be blocked and if so where? Many thanks to anyone with suggestions. Dave

I had the same problem in a 88 only when it was raining heavy.
I found a nice little rust hole under the plastic that runs along the bottom of the windscreen.
Bit of a pain as I had to pull the front guards off to fix it.
Under the firewall is filled with foam and when it gets water in there it sits wet for a long time and it doesn't take long for the rust to get ahold.
Not hard to fix, as however you fix it is not seen.
Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot for this - I'll investigate over the weekend and check it out. Presumably the plastic trim you refer to is the full width item where the wiper is mounted through? Regards, Dave
