Audio Upgrade X-Type

I have a 2004 X-Type with factory nav and am looking to install subs and an ipod or aux connection would be great. Im trying to figure out what my options are.

The nav unit has climate control built in with it so if i get a new deck I would need to get the climate control out of a car without factory nav? Would it plug in the same or need some custom wiring?

OR

Could i just plug in the new sub and amp into the factory nav and somehow get an ipod or aux connection into it?

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Can't help you with the sub and amp, as my car already had them when I bought it. But I could swear that I saw some posts about that upgrade on this forum already, so you might want to try that "search" function on the forum command bar near the top of the page. My guess is that the answers are already out there for you.

Re: the iPod connection, that's easily addressed via the Jaguar Audio Connectivity Module. I installed one and wrote up a little something about it here:

Hello,

I need to find a replacement unit for my 02-X-type. My questions is as follows:

Can I get a salvage unit from a newer model?
If so, would it work with the steering wheel controls?
Does the 07-08 untis comes with the ipod connectivity?

Thanks

This vehicle is fiber-optic the tweters get power from the radio but the rest of the speakers get the power from the factory amplifier in the trunk check all the connections behind the radio and in the trunk also unplug the cable from the radio and put a flashlight on go in the trunk unplug the fiber optic from the amplifier and see if the light is there,if you don't see the light the problem is on the fiberoptic line 20 out of 100 the problem is there there is also 1 more fuse on the side of the amplifier....

If you have the stock radio, not the Alpine set-up (if your front speakers have a chrome ring and say Alpine on them you have the upgraded system and all bets are off) then you can add an Amp and sub by putting in in-line connectors for the amp and run a sub directly off the amp. The audio connectivity module (search it) goes in the center console and adds iPod connectivity, and aux input and usb and wires into the line that goes to your CD changer. The car in 2004 is pre-wired regarless of whether the stacker is installed or not and is fiber optic to the changer but the ACM comes with all the wiring you need, it's just question of getting the dealer to tell the system it has a CD after you do the install for it to recognize there is the ACM. It fakes out the system into thinking it's a changer.
