Speaker replacement options, stereo too..
Howdy ya'll. I just bough an 03 S Type R for me and a 2005 S Type 3.0 for the wife.
First thing I'm looking at is replacing the speakers in mine. Of course it has the "Alpine" system but it still isn't up to snuff. I've had a lot of speakers in the past that took a lot of fitting...I'm getting old and need to make this work easier. What speakers have you all used? Polk? Alpine? What models? Are the doors components or coaxials? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Chris |
RE: Speaker replacement options, stereo too..
Hey chris, i too have gone thru many types of speakers since high school. Now, listening to different component sets, compared to alpine, kenwood, boston acoustics, and a few others, I prefer the MOMO series by Polk Audio...very good midranges! Ebay sellers sell new ones (either component or coaxials, remember.. MOMOs...the cheaper db series is poo. I think the S-types have components up front and coaxials in the rear...but troll the s=type threads for decisivity... :D i made that word up i think/

RE: Speaker replacement options, stereo too..
Sweet, thanks. I can get Momos on the cheap via a wholesale supplier from way back when ... when I ran a small business. I'll check'em out.
Also, I meant to ask, mine has the nav and all that jazz. I don't want any of it, I want to put it all in my wife's 2005 S Type 3.0. I don't suppose that will work, will it? Thanks again- Chris |

Not sure about that, but there could be a possibility for an even swap out.
Why don't you start a nav exchange thread in the s-type area and see if somebody can confirm that for you. |
