Roll Call of all member contributors in NSW&ACT

Hello everyone and welcome to the NSW&ACT regional section of Jaguar Forums ...

Let's kick off this rollout of our new region and its principal goal of fostering greater sharing of the Jaguar experience here, by taking a few moments to add your post to this roll call of all members in NSW&ACT. The purpose is to assemble and post as an ongoing "Sticky" a listing of all members - which I will keep updated and posted for the benefit of all members.

Here is what I ask each member to do ...
  • Add a brief post to this thread ... we are a friendly bunch around here, so please include your first name and broad location (eg city, suburb, but please ... no address or phone numbers);
  • In addition, you may list your car(s) ... but please keep technical questions, advice, and other matters to separate posts;
  • By the end of the month, look out for a new thread "Roll Call Of NSW&ACT Members" which will list all those who have contributed via this thread.
Let me use my entry as an example to kick things off ...

"Hi everyone. My name is Ken and I hail from around Coffs Harbour. Wife and I have owned and enjoyed many of the Jaguar models since the 60s, bur most loved were the 4.2L Serues1 E-Type (his, for 35yrs) and V12 EFI Daimler Vanden Plas (hers, for 15yrs). Current drive is our 2007 2.7L TTD S-Type and yearning for an XK8/XKR".

Take care and best wishes to all, :icon_toast:
Ken

G'Day,

Doug here from southern suburbs of Canberra. The S-Type in my avatar is my first Jag and it has been a pleasure to fix, repair, problem solve and occasionally drive. I hope to keep it for many years to come. (I also have a Volvo for when I need that reliability!).

Hi, Rob from the Inner West of Sydney. I have an early X-Type as my daily driver, and I've owned it for about 3 years.

My daughters name the family cars, hence the name Mick Jaguar for the X-Type.

Regards

Rob

Tom from Windsor Sydney, driving a 1975 XJ6L S2 all original drive train, I reproduce wiring schematics for Jaguar models in full colour with indexing etc, ranging from MK1 to XJ6 - 94 & some Triumph, this started out as a hobby of necessity but has grown to items of demand. We drive the car as often as possible along with a Sydney based car social club, i do all my own work......Tom

Dave here, in the Western Sydney/Blue Mountains area, with a newly acquired 1985 XJS with a 5-speed. Selling the XJR left more of a hole in my heart than I expected! I have a few little things to tidy on the XJS, but it seems a good car so far... just not even close the the fuel consumption of a supercharged V8! That said, a manual 'box really does transform that engine.

Would any of the Sydney-based people like to arrange an informal meet? Might be a nice way to close the gap between cyberspace and the real world!

Dave

catch up

Dave,
I'm in Windsor /Sydney, always up for a catchup with jags, took Big Red (S2) to Caringbah today to get some conversion parts from a jag dealer there,that drive is always a good test for you'r level of calmness, you can private message me if you wish.....Tom

Hi Tom And Dave, Thanks for adding to the roll call thread.A meet around the Sydney area sounds great Dave,cyberspace is good for chat but meeting in person makes all the difference. I'm sure Ken would be keen on that too.
Ken(cat_as_trophy) is unable to reply to your posts at the moment and has asked me to keep an eye on the thread while he is out of town.

Cheers, Clarke

C'mon guys, get those names added to the list....lets get this section moving, onwards n upwards

cat_as_trophy 07-12-2014 09:12 PM

65 strong ... but do you belong???

Thanks for the gee-up Jim, and to Clarke (o1xjr) also for keeping tabs on the NSW&ACT region during my forced absence over the past couple of weeks. Jaguar Forums beat Hospitals hands down!

So ... how about some urgent action from everyone please ...

If you are a Jaguar Forums member in our region, have you checked the list of members in post #4 of this thread to make sure you are entered correctly? As the title says, we are 65 members strong, but there are bound to be many who have lost touch. If you are not listed correctly, please post an addition or correction.

If you are a visitor to Jaguar Forums, then why not join us? Maybe you have not yet found/purchased your Jaguar beastie? Please note that car ownership is not a prerequisite to joining ... nor is it compulsory to set your sights on the newest, fastest or most expensive model ... some of our members do all their own spannering; some rely on dealers. Whether you plan on restoring or maintaining a classic, joining here will prove a No1 investment that will ...
  • add to your enjoyment;
  • save you time and money;
  • but (alas) may do nothing to stop your hair falling out!
We are a fairly laid back bunch. Friendliness is widespread and first names are as common as respect for each other's cars. We certainly don't bite ... even though there are many here who still have teeth! Humour and help abound, based on vast knowledge and experience of all things Jaguar. So c'mon; try us on for size.

Best wishes, :icon_toast:
Ken

"Hi all. I am a new member to the forum. My name is Bernard and I live in the upper north shore in Sydney. I have a deep passion for Jaguar cars and I currently own a 1996 Daimler Double Six. The car is a private import and I have owned it since 2002. I hope to get in touch with other Jag lovers particularly owners of the x300 jag variants .

Welcome Bernard

Hi Bernard (bchoongo);

My apologies for delay in rolling out red carpet to welcome you to the NSW&ACT section ... but thanks to Clarke for stepping in to do so. As you will see, I have aded your name to our list of members here (post #4). Sounds like you are not far from my old stomping ground of West Pennant Hills and thus, not far from the Kings School meet on Aug 24 ... see nearby post on All British Day by Cambo351.

By my reckoning, you have already marked yourself as a person of immense distinction ... choosing not only to own a Daimler, but the glorious Double Six at that! You may like to check out my album pics of an older but immensely elegant V12 VDP. Great to have you join us Bernard, and I trust that you find both the resources and friendly help that are offered here to make your car ownership both more valuable and more enjoyable. Yell if you need help at any time.

With mates like Clarke ("long winded"? me?) that's enough to leave you with but one final recommendation ... dive in and enjoy!

Best wiss, :icon_beerchug:
Ken

Jag7651 07-26-2014 05:33 PM

Good morning Ken,
Thank you for your message. This is very tricky. I cannot confirm that it is a duplication. I am registered as JAG7651 not JAG765 and am lucky enough to have a beautiful 1986 XJ6 Series 3. Please check with the other guy, if he does exist that is, so that you can amend your membership list.
Best regards,
Gerard.

cat_as_trophy 07-26-2014 06:13 PM

Membership listing updated

Hello Gerard, and I can confirm that other guy is indeed you! In my rush to assemble an initial list of members from all posts that could be ID'd as from NSW&ACT members, I had copied your details from a Sept 2013 post ... but incorrectly!

I have whipped myself mercilessly for creating confusion, but can now confirm I have corrected and updated the earlier entry (#59 on membership list) and removed the recent duplicate. Now ... if Jaguar electronics (or even just world peace) were as simple to resolve?

Best wishes Gerard, :icon_beerchug:
Ken

Jag7651 07-27-2014 12:48 AM

A big hello to all,
I am Gerard from a western suburb of Sydney. My pride and joy is a 1986 XJ6 series 3 which I acquired as a wreck over 12 years ago. It was left in someone backyard for close to 2 years unprotected. What a disgrace, After so many years of hard work and expense, I am extremely happy with the final result. I still have some ignition issues but I consider this minor. I do hope to have her starting and running smoothly for the meeting on the 24th of August.
Best wishes to all,
Gerard.

Jag7651 07-27-2014 01:01 AM

Hi again Ken,
I am glad everything is in order. I knew you could do it. Just love the last part of your message. This is so true. Most of us would be so happy if both problems you mentioned were as easy to solve.
Best regards,
Gerard.

Hi Phil from Sutherland Shire with the homicidal (but much loved) 2007 XJ diesel 2.7 here. It's "winter sun" colour (sort of pale gold) which, according to my daughter, is an old man's colour. I don't care!
It has done only 90,000km and, apart from trying to annihilate me every so often, is by far the best long distance cruiser I've ever owned.
Previous drives have been a 1960 Studebaker Silver Hawk, a 1966 Jag S Type, a 1970 XJ6 Series One, and too many Alfas and Lancias.

o1xjr 07-29-2014 05:42 AM

Hi Phil,welcome to the community. Ken will along in the not too distance future to give you NSW welcome and add you to the Roll call post.
Are you a sharks supporter?

pmoore22 07-29-2014 07:14 PM

Hi Clarke
unfortunately yes, I have been a Gummy Sharks supporter since 1967. I expect them to win the comp in the decade after my eventual demise. We are a long suffering lot
Cheers
Phil
