Default Our Next Proposed Meet: Sandstone Point Bribie Island

G'day Guys

Just looking forward trying to plan something for our next meet after a spectacular All British Day this past Sunday.

At this stage I just wanted to know if you guys would be keen meeting in November, either a Saturday or Sunday, at the Oyster Shed, Sandstone Point, Bribie Island?

Home - Sandstone Point Hotel

The Oyster Shed - Fish and Chippery - Sandstone Point Hotel

I believe they have had car clubs there before and there is a huge grass parking area. If I get in early enough I may be able to organize it with the vendors to park up front and get some great photo ops.

They have an oyster bar right by the water that serves not only Oysters but a pretty good fish n chippery with drinks. Also if that was not to your liking you can go into the Pub Section on top of the hill and order lunch there.

I picked the Oyster Bar as it is out doors (with shade), right by the water and right by our cars too (if they permit it).

I reckon it would be a beautiful drive out there and a great feed by the sea. What do you guys reckon?

If anybody is keen let me know what dates you would be free in November. I can only do at this stage 18th/19th or 25th/26th, but if these dates don't work and the majority can do earlier November I am still happy to help organize it.

They have an Oyster Festival on the 18th. Not sure if we could coincide with that or not. Anyway, I'll gather some interest and go from there.

Well, looks like I miscalculated my time off. I can only do weekend of November the 19th. Does that suit everybody else?

I'll try and get a few more numbers and then I will ring Sandstone Point this week to see if we can bring our cars down on the grass.

So far we have:

Location: Oyster Shack, Sandstone Point (across from Bribie Island)
When: Proposed 19th of November.

Starters:
1) James (34by151)
2) Paul (paulyling)
3) Clarke and Kirsty (o1xjr)

Lock us in for the 19th Paul. We have eaten there before and found it quite pleasant. Should be a good day.
Cheers, Doug and Lois.

Good stuff Rod! It is growing.

I just sent and email off to the Oyster Shed. They said they will get back to me about parking on the grass. (Fingers crossed)

Looks like a fun day out. I can only put in a possible at this stage. A few big events happening in the next couple of months. I'm sure I can hitch a ride with Clarke if it all works out.

Well I have emailed the Oyster Shack twice now about parking on their grass. Each time they said they will ask management and get back to me so I guess I'll give it a bit longer.

Worst comes to worst we can just park in the regular carpark but would be cooler if we can get on the grass for sure.

Ok just heard back from Sandstone Point:

Our General Manager has had a look into the dates and unfortunately we will have our big marquees, portable kitchens and other infrastructure still set up following our Oyster Festival which is on the Saturday.

You are more than welcome to go ahead with this on an alternative date if this would be suitable for you.

Please advise if you would like to arrange this for a different date and we can ensure that our Management and team members on the day are aware of this.

We look forward to hearing from you!
So the options are we still just show up on the 19th but would just have to park our car in the regular car parks. Not too bad. And if the dates work for everybody it is only a minor detail.

Or

We find another date suitable and see if we can get our cars on the grass.

What do you guys reckon?

I can't make any other Sunday in November however I could make Sunday October 29th
.

The only thing there is the later we go in the year, more people are going to have family or work engagements for xmas.
Unless we go earlier. Maybe 4/5 or 11/12 November.

I think sticking with the 19th already has people committed and changing the date is going to limit numbers.
