Default Reflections Detailing of Utah: Thrashed Black Jag

A few months ago a long time client asked me to help restore his newly bought black Jag. Told me it wasn't bad just needed some loving. The term "wasn't bad" and black don't go together very often, but I was optimistic. When she arrived she looked good from 10', as I moved in I could see some marring. The real horror came when I removed all the filler waxes, and glazes that were hiding the true face of the paint condition. It took nearly 15 hrs of work, 12 of which on the exterior alone to get this gem back to a respectable point in her life. My client can now maintain the workmanship and occasional spruce ups will be needed, but nothing like 12hr on the paint.

the wonderful leather seats were treated to Leatherique over night to restore the supple feeling and increase the strength of the leather.

You can see some deep etching from bird bombs, hard water spotting, and poor washing techniques. You will see some 50/50 shots I tried to capture in the halogen lighting.

Enjoy:

Questions welcomed!

Cheers,

Greg,

Thank you for the call last night, great to chat with other another detailer who shares the same passion. As I mentioned this is a great place to come and put up some of your Jaguar projects that your able to get in between your High School teaching job. I bet that sure takes a lot of stamina, teaching kids is a tough one, especially at that age...and then take on vehicles and detail them.

The Jaguar looks great, wonderful turnaround, cool music on the youtube video!......we all now those cars that look good from far but far from good that can use our services......

Goodness, my black Jag is starting to look like that. I better stop going to these machine washes and get her professionally detailed ASAP!

Wow, that's quite a turn around. I'd hate to be stuck with the bill from that detail. I just spent 6 hours on my car to remove all of the left over stubborn swirl marks. 99% gone. Just a bit of pre detailing for a car show I've got in April.

The touch car washes are flogging your car to death, even the self serve with the brushes are murder as everyone prior to your use left behind the grime in the brush.

Cheers,

Yup. I think from now on I will only handwash once a week and then do a touchless wash in between.

Man, we got snow yesterday. I went in to take a ****, and by the time I got out, my coworker had cleared the snow off my car with a bristle brush! I haven't looked at the damage, but I'm almost too afraid to look. It's all good, I am getting the car detailed on Saturday.

Good intentions...

So, what so you use to clear snow off your Jag?

I have no idea, but using a broom-like bristle brush doesn't seem like the way to go!

Getting the car detailed tomorrow. Maybe this isn't the best idea since the roads are still covered with salt and are wet with melting snow!
