Temporary Paint protection

I'm planning a long drive and wondering if anyone has used any type of temporary paint protection for their cars? I've seen the clear poly tracwrap and similar, blue painter's tape, green painter's tape, Christie's pvc tape from Lowe's, etc. Anyone have any experience or recommendations? I've read horror stories about cars driving thru mountain passes out west and having the paint sand blasted off the nose and rockers. Hoping to avoid the same fate. Thanks in advance for your advice.

From my experience a 3M clear bra protector for the front is the best, but this is more of a long term application based on cost. Temp? you could pick up a real strap on car bra. It is cheaper and you might be able to sell it when your done.

Thanks for the reply. I don't like the 3M clear bras and I've seen them on many cars. And the strap on bras are as bad or worse than nothing. Been there done that. I'm trying the Green 3M masking tape recommended in another forum on a 500 mile trip this weekend and using the 04 XJR as the sacrificial lamb. This should tell me if it will stay on at speed and how hard it is to get off after a few days. Then there is always the temporary tracwrap type stuff if the tape doesn't work.
Thanks again.

I saw it at SEMA this year, and from the looks of it, this may be a great temporary option. Just be sure to follow the instructions and use "their" wax before applying to allow easy removal....
