Wax Won't Stick

So I tried to apply Turtle Wax, Super Hard Shell to my 07 XK. The first time I have tried to wax it since I got the car 3 months ago.

The wax went down unevenly and did not stick. It didn't exactly bubble up but there is something going on.

Could it be that this product doesn't want to adhere to some previous product applied to the surface?

Good day tarhealcracker,

Thought I would chime in on this one....I have the following questions,

  1. Was the vehicle sealed or some coating applied at the selling dealer?
  2. What type of soap did you use for your cleaning process?
  3. Did you do this in the direct sunlight or shade?
I would say wash the entire vehicle down with a Megs APC+ diluted accordingly to degrease. Then prep the surfaces, polish then wax or seal the paint for desired results....

Dave ,

I don't know what product had been previously applied but it looks damn good.

I washed the car with Turtle brand car wash.

I was in the shade, temp lower than 80 degrees

Hope this helps. Could it be that regular car wax does not adhere well to these new synthetics?
