2.7D XF engine repair / crankshaft compatibility question

Hello,

I would need some help with the engine repair we are carrying out please.

We have 2008 XF 2.7 diesel with crank that is knocking and appears to have snapped.
We have another early engine from S-type jag with s/n ELD11 1103040.... (appears to be pre-52047 VIN)

It appears straight swap of whole is out of question due to different injectors and too many ancillaries, but can we *swap the bare blocks or just the crankshaft out*?

I'd rather ask now to be sure before committing. Failing that what kind of crankshaft do they take?

Many thanks in advance.

Hello, I've just rebuilt a 2.7 with crank problem. It didn't knock, just ran lumpy. It turned out that diluted engine oil wore the big end shells down to the copper. No1 let go, welding the shell to the rod (which was blue), reducing the pressure in the crank, which made the mains pick up on the crank, spinning them, thus scrapping the block.
New (second hand)block and .50 grind on the big ends and mains. From all this I found that all 2.7 cranks are the same and all jaguar /. landrover blocks are the same. Peugeot / Citroen blocks are NOT the same. Different bell housing.

Phil
