1967 XKE flood dammaged
 

Hello, I have a chance to buy a 1967 Jag that was part of a collection that went through a flood. I am interested in doing a Resto/EV mod. I am wondering how difficult it would be to remove the old wiring and install new. Can someone give me an idea about how big a problem this could be for someone who isn't a professional classic car restorer.

Rewiring most old cars, including the E-Type is relatively easy compared to a current generation car and it is something you should likely do on anything over 30 years old anyway particularly for cars that had that damn cloth wiring insolation (it rots). But a flood car has other issues like rust in hard to reach places (between body panels), water intrusion into bearings, and, of course, water intusion into drive line components (engine, transmission, differential). You'd really want to strip the car and dip the body, replace all the bearings, flush and check the various driveline components etc. Flood cars can be had cheap but they can be a nightmare of surprises particularly with older cars which weren't made to resisist rust as well as current cars. Easy........a flood car of that generation is like working on a lawn mower.
As long as the car wasn't under the ocean for 20 years, your ok.
They make EVERYTHING for the etype. Everything.
