Default Custom IRS Carrier Pictures

At some point I saw someone post a picture of an IRS carrier with a stronger custom bottom plate.
As I get ready to recondition my IRS I'm wondering if anyone knows who posted that or where it might be found.
Long shot but thanks

Hi John,
I believe Classic Jaguar had a billeted tie plate for the rear suspension. I didn’t see it on the website but you could call them and check.
cheers

Great article Mike! Any idea who actually makes the plate?

I’m just completing a 5-year ‘restoration’ of an E-Type with the goal of creating a car for spirited driving and compete in the JCNA modified class. We considered fabricating something like this but felt it was not a good fit for those goals.

That is the point, I’m not racing and for twisty roads it is overkill and less refined. We did go with a very light flywheel and aggressive ramp blocks in the differential

Understood on the racing and advantage of a lighter flywheel. Not sure what the ramp blocks are in the differential and what advantage that makes but interested as I just completed tearing my IRS apart. .

The ramp blocks are what pushes the clutch pack together. Pictures: https://www.flickr.com/gp/parquin/J2aZ723s6R

There provide lock both on acceleration and overrun. They are also curved nicely to provide a bit of modulation to the action,

Oh, and PS, while you have the IRS apart, DO replace (or at least check) the clutch pack. They CAN break (as me how I know)

I wonder how long this was cracked for -and- what would have happened if it had broken up?
