Engine number
I have a 1966 Jaguar XKE with engine number C-27110FF cannot find our any information on date etc.

Hi, That is an unusual engine number. Anything is possible but I believe a '66 Series 1 should have an engine number starting with "7E". The number for your engine should be near the oil filter, on the block above the filter housing. And if you have the original data plate it should also be stamped there. Do you know the car number, that would also help track down model year and build dates.
cheers, Richard |

Hi Don,
The closest engine number to 7E53275 listed on the XKE.collectordata.com site is 7E53274-9. That is from a '67 4.2L 2+2 RHD, car number 1E50919BW. You can search on the site based on your car number to see if there is any data. Richard |
Jaguar1966$ just fyi---part numbers that star with C XXXX are functional part numbers. BD is trim and such. The 'C' number you see is simply the part number for the block.

The "9" at thr back of the number indicates it's a 9:1 compression ratio engine, i.e UK spec, so good news

Dear Richard thank you for your response. I may have read the numbers wrong. I believe the heads were replaced before my ownership they read 7E53275-9. I have the Jaguar Heritage Trust document. Chassis number matches Build date December 21 1965. I dont know if this helps. Thank you Don Calabro

RHD, 1965 Series 1, 4.2 liter engine's number?
Hello brothers! Could you tell me please where/how to locate Jaguar e-type RHD, 1965 Series 1, 4.2 liter engine's number?

Unless modified or replaced, the engine number should be stamped in two locations: On cylinder block right-hand side on horizontal flange above where oil filter is fitted, and on cylinder head in vertical surface at the front of the central valley above the forward spark plug. Cheers Richard.
