New owner here, of an XKE - I've owned an XJ8 for 5 or 6 years. I'm picking up my car next month. Reading up on maintenance issues it seems the hose from the oil filter housing to the pan is a failure point. I've also read that the two fittings are different sizes, filter end being 5/8 and pan side 1/2.

Has anyone changed the fitting on the oil filter housing so that its also 1/2 inch so a plain hose could be used? I'm guessing, based on British construction and parts catalogs showing an o-ring on the fitting that the fitting has British Parallel Threads (BPPT). Once I get the car I'll investigate making the change.
