pull tranny without removing v12??

one year almost to the day- blown head gasket- pulled engine and everything else from the engine bay- had heads done- all gaskets, seals bottom and top replaced- frame, firewall and every component cleaned up and refinished- transmission got torn down by local shop and necessary components replaced- all back together and with a bit of professional assistance, got it started

you never know till the test drive- engine purrs!!- unfortunately, tranny pops out of third when i lift off the gas- the repair shop has been notified

so the $64,000 question- i know whats involved in pulling the engine-been there- has anybody ever been able to drop the transmission with the v12 in place?

thanks guys

yep but it's fun. need to pull out console . move a/c unit over to the right. drive shaft, crossmember, part of exhaust. 71 2+2 has a few rubber plugs in floor to get to top bolts..but if you've pulled engine before then you've already found out how to get to top bolts...did mine in a weekend for a flywheel.

thanks jon- not sure I am following you re the top bolts- when I pulled the engine, I pulled the tranny with it, so I am having to guess a bit re removing the transmission by itself- a/c hoses are already loose so moving the a/c shouldn't be too bad- are you saying there are plugs behind the unit?- when it was up on the rack it looked as tho it might be possible to reach top bolts on bellhousing from engine bay- is that hopeless?
anyway, moving the ac aint much compared with pulling the v12, eh
let me know what you think- thx- chris

it's been awhile (10 yrs) but as i remember there was holes in floor for getting to the bolts. i've got a e manual and will ck to see. i've slept since then so the old mind is not what it used to be.
