To give you an idea of what you are looking for, here's the 50 year old original radio in my 1966 OTS:

I do not think that there was a unique, correct original radio for the S1 in the US. From what I remember, the dealers were installing US-spec radios once the car arrived here, from wherever was their favorite source of radios. A lot were transistor Motorola AM radios like mine. That makes them fairly easy to find here on the internet with knowledgeable shops to repair them. The tough part may be to find the aluminum patterned front face plate. Also, if at some point a later DIN spec radio was cut into the panel, the original mounting holes in the panel may be awol, with some metal repairs required.

That looks awesome

My series II I had Vintageblau via e-bay, very reasonably priced which my shop installed..its a Blaupunkt Frankfort date-coded to '69, my E's year. But I also purchased the bracket...its not cheap at 40$ but it really saved labor costs.
I agree, the dealers installed whatever radio was offered at the time for exotics, but seeing original time capsule cars, they seemed to have Phillips AM's...which are very rare on the Internet. The Blau looks totally correct in my car and works great.

New here but if you want a blaupundt Frankfurt google that plus 356. There is link to the date codes for them in the site. Can help get exact year to match your car.

early radios

I would say the Frankfurt is probably the easies to locate and still be period correct too. My '67 had/has one and I'm the 2nd owner. They show up on Ebay frequently, although, you may have to go across the pond.
Good Luck......

retrofit my blaupunkt?

Hi all,
I bought a '69 E type coupe with a vintage circa 1973 Blaupunkt. Even came with the receipt for the radio! But I want to modify it so that it can accept a plug to play music from my iPhone or an iPod. Does anyone know who rebuilds these? Thanks for your help.

You might Google Retro car radio updates or rebuilds etc. I have a 65 Mustang cvt. I was looking for the same mods to the radio. I removed the Original, stored it. I purchased a bone yard OEM non-working radio and sent it off to a guy who replaced the "guts" with iPOD, modern AM/FM bands and electrics for a retractable antenna. The exterior still retails the OEM look. The guy was located in PA, I believe.
BTW, mine was fitted with a mid-late 60s Blaupunkt Frankfurt model.
Good Luck!

Here's the radio that's in my 64FHC. I believe it to be original to the car. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...5eb45a5669.jpgA Radiomobile 922T - Manufactured by Smiths

E-Bay has a vintage look current generation radio that might be worth a look: https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Classic...dUUwMj&vxp=mtr

That radio looks very period correct for not bad money.

I have a 1965 Radiomobile in beautiful condition and perfect working condition. Similar to the picture posted above. Can be changed to Negative or Positive Ground.
Comes with another 1964 Radiomobile for spare parts. The spare radio starts but no sound.

Only problem is that these radios were AM only, no FM in those days of 1960s.

Also have a 1964 BMCD AM radio which were fitted to California Jaguars by the California distributor. Beautiful cosmetic and working condition but Positive Ground ONLY. Removed from my 1965 S type because I converted to Negative ground. Original to the car when sold new.

So the Radiomobile is for sale? If so, what are you looking to get for it? thanks
