Default Satnav Europe

Bought a 2003 XKR without a satnav DVD.

Downloaded ISO file JG-D0-ADB3102 but it don't seem to work.
Do have a leaper at first but then get a disc error. What to do?

Looking for European maps and I know they are over 12 years old.

Hi Sven
As i have been through something close to what you experienced i figured i'd reply.
When i had my issue i got a hold of a new disc, put it into the Sat-Nav control box thingie only to find out that it was in fact the Sat-Nav DVD reader that was failing on me.
Keep in mind that this is a 13 year old DVD reader and will most likely be on it's last leg.

My particular problem was that when i turned on the car the screen with the clock came on (the one with the clock which is the latest update made) and that was good for about five minutes and then the disc read error came. In the end i ended up scrapping the original system and mounted a garmin unit in the facia instead which is a manageble install. Mind you there are lots of other great alternatives in the forum.

You are welcome to PM me if you want to try out the disc.

Best
/Stig.

Thanks Stig for your answer.
In the end I bought a UK Disc and that works fine even though it's 8 years old.
I've got the Apline system. What system do you have in your XKR?
The garmin looks great!

You're very welcome.

I'm glad to hear that a "new" disc fixed your problem.
My system is the standard Alpine system fitted to the 2000 model and although i suspect yours is the same I'm not entirely sure.

And i'm glad that you like my little modification but as i mention in my post it's not integrated into the sound system so if your contemplating doing something similar it doesn't really matter what system you currently have.
However... integrating it into the sound system is definitely possible its quite a bit more involved. There's loads of threads with people making some pretty wild system integrations.

On another note there's an OBDII reader integration for the Garmin which would allow the Garmin to display real temperature and a number of other things but i haven't gotten it yet and i'm still pondering on whether or not to get it.

Best
