Baby Jaguar... R-Inspired

I posted this in the X-Type forum, but I get strange satisfaction in stirring the pot - all without resorting to chrome, aftermarket bodykits, purple HIDs, badly tinted lighting or paint/vinyl graphics. :D

I like the fender "shark vent" on the XJR's and found a pair on ebay. I wasn't commited enough to the idea to think about metal fabrication, so I modified the vent pieces. After getting completely flamed on color (color match is perfect at like angles, see the 3/4 front pics), size on fender and front gap. I actually fixed the front gap to be perfectly even. You could roll ball bearings down it now and expect even speeds.

This is the original. I'm guessing the shark vent isn't liked by all on the OEM car:

Here it is on an X-Type with a couple of other insignificant cosmetic mods and Windows 7 car PC (see here - https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...hlight=windows - I work on the Windows team at Microsoft in Redmond). Performance parts to come next in order to almost earn the R badge. I might take that off until then or put the word "inspired" under it in cursive vinyl lettering.

Before the pics, here is the front gap now, after fixing:

Your car looks good, i'm not sure how I feel about the vents though...probably would have to see them in person...on another note...I saw the other pics in another thread...and I would lose the "R" badge...just my opinion, it seems poserish to me, no offense

R Inspired. I like that. Shark vents I'm personally not sure about but more importantly do what makes you happy in making your car unique. That's the spirit. My painted tail lights and lower valance aren't for everybody, but I like them.

O WOW! I like that alot, but idk for me the rims look a little big for the size of the car, but thats just me.. Very tastefully done

I haven't seen photos of yours. Do you have a thread somewhere?

Creative. I bet you'd get some heat for posting that pic.

"R" badging and no rear fogs...

Personally I'm not feeling the vents. I think it breaks up the overall lines of the car. I'd rethink that mod... Just trying to give honest feedback, not flame here. ;)

I think the vent looks ok, but if they're just stick on I'd can them.
