Need Advice on Rims
 

I just discovered brake dust! [:'(]Yikes, I never knew about this gunk or cared for that matter, that is until now. Guess that is what first time Jag ownership does to you. So now I need some advice on what I can use (brand wise) on my alloy wheels to keep this stuff off or at least make it come off easier.

Treasures, those spoke wheels are going to be a tough task to clean...especially with the Jag brake pads. I feel for ya. The stuff that i found that gets off caked on dust also eats thru the outer clear layer...so that won't work (but works wonders when i have the wheels off and do the insides). I have always been a fan of just good car detergent, but you can use dish detergent for your wheels only...not the paint. It will not harm your finish on the wheels and is better at breaking up the dust.

For long term relief, your best bet is to put on different brake pads all around ... the Akebono Euro ceramics are the best that i have ever had...about 10% of the dust that the original pads produced...almost not noticable. Then, normal suds and rinsing easily takes care of what little dust you collect. good luck!

Fit ceramic pads (EBC redstuff...hardly any dust,cheaper than std pads from dealer and what little brake dust or road grimethere is wipes off easily.
If you want to keep your std pads then you will need an effective but safe wheel cleaner.I asked a guy on the .co.uk forum who details exotic cars like Lambos, Ferraris,etc and he recommended two.Either the Zymol or the P21S.Iopted forP21S.Spray on, rinse off ,simple and brings wheels up like new even when I had baked in grime when I had standard pads.
