I must be crazy to add another project, but this 1998 XJR was parts car money, and came with a heartbreaking story. The british gent who bought it in 2004, passed away in 2013, and the car sat untouched since 2016. There truly was 1/2 inch of Georgia pollen and gunk, all over it. Battery was long dead, all 4 tired cracked and flat - but I could tell it was well loved during its life.
Looking forward to going through it slowly, system by system before attempting to start. With new battery...it shows 76,251 miles. Have contacted Matheny Jaguar (now Fields) in Jacksonville, to see if they will provide service details. Carfax gives only intriging blurbs, like "Transmission replaced" 2002 and "Head Gasket replaced" 2004.

Welp, took Sean's advice (thanks for the encouragement) and pulled the supercharger.
There was no way those heater hoses could be replaced with it in place.
I found the pad under the supercharger had been used as a nest and quite the stash of linden seeds and oher crap that needed to be vacuumed up.
I broke the corrugated breather hose in a couple of places during removal but this piece is so brittle I'm not sure there was any avoiding it.
I had a couple of questions I was hoping someone could answer though.
What are the part numbres for the rubber seals on the 4 bolts holding the outlet duct to the top of the supercharger? I can't seem to find them listed anywhere.
People mention cutting a slot in the supercharger casting for the rear bolt hole.
Looking at the area I can't see what that would help.
Do people do this to help when they've removed the supercharger in a different manor?
I'm not sure how I would have remved the supercharger with the intake elbow in place and with that removed access to the rear bolt looks ok.

Working thru my coolant hose, throttle body replacement on my 1999 XJR and found a hose from the bottom right of the thermostat housing that disappears under the supercharger and has a pretty tired looking connection to the thermostat housing.
I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck replacing this hose without pulling the supercharger.
The hose already occupies some space thru the area, can I just tape it to the old hose and gingerly pull/ push the new hose into position?
I'm trying to avoid removing the supercharger but if that's a fool's errand will bite the bullet and go that route.

Hello, my friend has a 2003 xj8 (American drivers side) and I’m helping him try and diagnose and fix an issue (we don’t know the most about cars but we are learning). About a month ago it would start to go into rough idle and limp mode. And it read P0303. We looked it up and replaced the 3rd ignition coil (from what we could find online it was the 2nd one from the front on the left). The issue still persisted after this. We check again and the same error code. We are thinking it might be an electrical issue now and we are going to have to replace the connector. We just wanted some more informed opinions on what we should do.

This has been a slow frustration trying to get to my tensioners!
Using a normal puller (bolt is already out) and I cannot get the pulley to budge. I have left it with tension for a few days. I have put heavy tension on and off for an hour. I have bent 3 bolts on the puller working on it. I have used percussive influence on the pulley ( working around the edges) with a 2x4 through the grill area, smacking it with a hammer. I've used penetration oils and sprays. I've done this with three cars in the past and never had this amount of effort needed. Heat has been the only avenue I haven't tried yet, as I have no idea the rubber content in this general area.
What say you folk? Heat it and beat it? I'm open to any and all ideas!

While I've been swapping out the misbehaving throttle body on my 1999 XJR I'm noticing a few things earlier mechanics have left incorrectly assembled.
One of those is an area that I've found, undone, and repeated as I'd assumed what I'd found was correct (or close enough).
I've had the cooling fan assembly out several times during my ownership for belt changes and idler bearing replacements.
Originally I'd found the wire harness wire tied to the plastic frame for the fan (tied to one of the 3 spokes locating each of the fan motors) which seemed ok but while under the hood recently this solution seems to leave the harness pretty close to the spinning pullies.
I happened to notice several locations where a snap feature has been molded into the fan frame, as if that's where the harness is intedned to be routed.
These are over the top of the lower, left hand fan.
I clipped the wire ties I'd used in the past to see if the harness would sit better there but it doesn't seem to want to be run thru that location.
Has anyone got their fan harness in the known stock location that could confirm how it should be run?
This is not a dire situation as I can repeat the past trasngressions on my old cat since nothing has damaged the harness yet, just wondering and would like to set this (one small) thing right!

After breaking several rigid plastic coolant pipes while installing the fan module after a belt change last year I'm looking to avoid over stressing any more 27 year old plastic.
In trying to attach the brackets from the right hand heater hose and the small steel line that connects with a short rubber hose to the bottom right area of the throttle body I'm finding the rigid plastic vacuum line running from the right side of the throttle body elbow is in my way.
I'm worried that if I don't disconnect it and get it out of the way I'll end up leaning on it and breaking it.
I've tugged on it as mightily as I dare with no luck.
Am I missing a trick for disconnecting this little guy?

At one point I thought someone had posted an ecopy of the jaguar parts list or catalog.
I did find a mention of it but the webpage the instructions pointed me to came up as one that couldn't be reached.
I'm sure I could be doing something incorrectly but thought I'd ask to see if anyone can point me at a source they've used recently.
I know there are several commercial parts sources that have nice exploded views but I've found them incomplete in my current area of interest.
In watching videos that show the area under the throttle body I've found that my old cat seems to be missing some bolts.
I can see how having these in place will make attaching the hose from the bottom right of the throttle body to the steel line running adjacent to the right head a one hand job.
That will be nce since I don't seem to have enough room for two hands in that area and the throttle body isn't even in the car yet!

So I'm working on a 2000 XJR with the premium sound system. I've installed a Bluetooth receiver into the non functioning CD changer. With the radio on CD mode, I get sound out of the correct speakers, but at a very low volume. I assume that the amp isn't actually getting the "on" signal. The Bluetooth receiver has a "remote on" wire that I haven't got attached to anything. I guess I had hoped that by having the radio on CD mode, it would activate the amp. Anyway, that didn't happen.

Does anyone have a good diagram for the amp? Or maybe someone might know which wire in the harness is the "on" lead, assuming there is one.
Pictured is the board that I soldered the Bluetooth module connections to. This mounts in the CD player. Most traces are labeled.
Does anyone happen to know where to get this white piece or know what I can use to fix this? The shift selector won’t run through the gears without me using the manual override. Car is dead, uncle just gave it to me because of this issue, and tow truck pretty much dropped it in middle of street blocking the mailbox lol would like to get it moving so I can get it in driveway and fix it up
