Owning a Jaguar is like being married to a prostitute. You know she will let you down at every opportunity, take all your money, and leave you standing by the roadside waiting for AAA; but you don't care. You love her.

I again need some help, please. My AC is blowing warm air. I bought a can of freon with a gauge to check the pressure on the low side and to charge if required. The low side rating when AC is off is 125PSI, which reduces, and the gauge needle goes into the green range when AC is switched on. This eliminates the following issues, as per my understanding;

1- The system does not need more freon as the low side is within the green range when AC is on
2 - The AC switch is working
3 - The compressor is working because when switched on, the pressure on the low side drops
4 - I have checked the cabin filter, and it is clean
5 - The cooling fan did not kick in as soon as I switched on the AC; however, when the temperature rose to half on the gauge, the fan kicked in. I assume this is normal.

Can someone please advise what else could be wrong?

Out of the blue started the VP this morning and ANOTHER pesky light came-Park Brake fault. Tested it with my Ancel LD700 and showed a code C1799. So I did the park brake release procedure with my foot on the brake several times to no success. It works fine you can feel it while your foot depresses the brake pedal. I did so reading on some old posts-is there anything new I can can try before I may end up taking it to the shop? In a few minutes I'm going to disconnect the battery for several hours and reset later this afternoon.. I am not to well versed on trouble shooting in depth electronic issues. Thanks.

I recently purchased a nice 2004 XJR that shifts roughly between first and second gear, especially under load. Shifts between all other gears are good. It happens even if I’m in Sport mode or using the J-gate. The previous owner said he took it to a the closest Jag dealer (two hours away) and they said it was fine and “adjusted” it and changed served the transmission. I don’t have documentation though. To me, it’s a noticeable bump but still an annoyance. My question is, what’s the best approach to get it resolved? I doubt a local generic transmission place could handle anything if it gets into electronic mapping and reprogramming but I have had good luck there with ther vehicles (BMW). My local foreign car service seems to know what they’re doing but grossly overestimate any services. They recommended transmission replacement on my BMW problem that the local transmission shop fixed. Is this bump normal or should it be buttery smooth? Any suggestions on what to ask for and expect are welcome. Thanks

There is a small diameter copper wire or post between the part of the steering wheel that rotates and the part that’s stationary. It makes a high pitched squeak when I turn the wheel. More of a slight annoyance than anything. Is it supposed to be there for some reason, e.g., electrical conductivity? It’s at the six o’clock position. I can move it with a small screwdriver. Just trying to avoid pulling the steering column apart on a 2004 XJR. Thanks.

If you've ever wanted a really well sorted XJR, I'm reluctantly selling mine, and just listed her in the forum Marketplace. She's just about perfect - and a wonderful example of the hard to find X356 version. I'd really love to see her go to a forum member. If you search my moniker, you'll see that essentially every upgrade and service has been performed over my ten years of ownership (and forum membership). And, if you fly in (Winston Salem, NC), I'll pick you up at the airport, and you can include the Blue Ridge Parkway on your voyage home...

My 2004 jaguar xj8 went into limp mode the other day “ENGINE SYSTEM FAULT” “DSC UNAVAILABLE” and “PARKBRAKE FAULT” I pulled over grabbed my trusty scanner from the backseat and it was throwing a P0121. So I cleared the code and the car would be back to normal like nothing was wrong for about 30minutes or so then it would throw the code again but it let me get it home. I ordered the throttle body yesterday when all that happened today it arrived and I replaced the throttle body and now it does it all the time. Somebody help Is there a programming procedure through SSD?
