Hello everyone. As I am a new member. This is my first time posting anything. So please be patient. I have no idea what I'm doing. Anyway I'm a proud owner of two Jaguars. The first is a 1998 XK8 Convertible. The second is the car I have questions about. It's an XKR with a build date of June 1st 2009. But a registration date of August 2010. And a VIN of 2011. It was initially registered in the United States as a Jaguar X175 corporate vehicle. For the first 8 months of it's life. Then was registered under the local dealership name. Before finally being sold to the public in September of 2011. It has the 5.0 liter supercharged engine. Along with the high speed pack and the black pack. The car is finished in ultimate black with charcoal leather interior. And dark oak veneer.. I've been told the car was a press/media car. To introduce the upcoming technology of the 2011 model year. To the North American market. Which is why it was built in 2009 as a 2011 model. The 2010 registration was to comply with California State law. Since the car would need to be driven on California roads in 2010 as a corporate vehicle. I'm waiting on Jaguar heritage trust. To send me what documentation they may have. I'm wondering if anyone can provide any information or insight into such a vehicle. As I await the information from Jaguar. Any help would be greatly appreciated .
Sincerely: Andrew Knight

I had been looking for (semi-seriously) an F-Type to add to the stable. But I had also been wanting an Aston Martin for quite a long time. Found a 2015 V8 Vantage with 13k miles and pulled the trigger. It's my first Aston so I'm beginning that steep learning curve. Not any photos yet as it was just delivered a week ago. Here's one parked beside the garage before putting it inside. Really looking forward to some top-down driving weather..........if we ever get any

Hi team,

I'm progressing on my journey to recreate an XKRS-GT bonnet. I have someone who is going to hand cut and shape the louvers so that it matches as close as possible to factory. Now, the thing that I need help on is actual measurements of said bonnet - I'm aware that there's 15 louvers per side that gradually flare out as they rise up the bonnet.

If anyone had height, width and depth and relative placement of them I'd be forever grateful. Understand that it's a rare item to have so doubt measurements are easy to come by.

Know other members have attempted something like this in the past and will share progress as it happens - don't expect it to be fast. So far the steps are:
- Remove paint and under bonnet bracing around area.
- measure and draw out louver cut points
- cut and press louvers
- re-weld bracing back in (will need a specialty welding person for this)
- take to a paint shop.

Not the easiest of jobs but I really think it's fitting for the car and provides a nice combo of aesthetics and functionality. I'll try to get some under bonnet temp readings with the current factory XKR bonnet and the custom XKRS-GT one as I'd imagine the heat removal will be great.

Finally, I'll want to figure out a way to have a removable rain tray so that I can park it in the weather without worrying about water ingress. Apparently the factory XKRS-GT has an insert for this purpose.

Beware misinformation about testing these sensors!

Out of interest really, and with a view to tapping off the voltage signal to provide an engine temperature indicator or warning (maybe a project next winter), I measured the thermostat sensor resistance:
48,000 ohms (cold) seems a high value I thought, and the internet agreed with me, so did Jag technical :

WARNING: These resistance values are very wrong, Sensor JDE1634 has a cold resistance of 48k (at approx 15C).

It would seem from the resistance reading that I had a faulty sensor, but I had no DTCs or other reason to think it wasn't working properly. Hooking up an obd diagnostic tool I went for a drive and checking the two temperatures and sensor voltages told me they were functioning just fine.

So. In conclusion, if you test the sensors using an ohmmeter the result should be in the region of 40-50kohm cold, reducing to a few kohm when hot.
(That is much higher than conventional sensors which measure about 3k cold. I see it said that many aftermarket sensors are no good; their low value will lead the engine management unit to think a cold engine is hot)

For info, each sensor is connected to a 5v supply via a resistor in the EMU. The EMU measures the resultant voltage across the sensor. It is about 3.5 v when cold and 0.5 v when hot.

Finally, I imagine the technical training was written whilst the new AJ133 engine was still under development and the author didn't know about the new sensor.

Happy Jagging😁

XKR 4.2
Convertible

After battery change and several drives and Re-Learns intermittently it will not crank. Only fix I have figured out is battery disconnect and wait, do the relearn sequence and then its fine for a few drives/starts. So I dove into Service Manual and Starter circuit shows its activating Relay10 directly to the starter. I checked all 3 Fuse Boxes and none have a Relay 10 spot. Ive seen many 1,2,3, 4 and even an 8 but no R10. I really want to wire in a momentary switch for this for the next time so I dont have to strip the trunk and relearn all over again.
Concerned with retaining 100% of OEM head unit functionality while improving screen quality, size, and placement.
Thinking this will bring the screen forward from its recessed position allowing for larger size without obscuring the manual controls.
Critical considerations include:
-Custom mounting
-MOST integration
-CANBUS retention
-Careful positioning
-Possible HVAC adaptation
-OEM settings menu
