Disassembly of a Type 1 Burman power steering box

How can you remove a Burman Type 1 power steering box (Jaguar MK2 LHD) as simply as possible in order to take it out of the car and replace the seals on a workbench � while of course avoiding disturbing the steering adjustment and geometry ?

HELP ! Power Steering VS Manual Steering, GEOMETRY ???

Apparently when the PAS units are installed in 3.8S and 420 cars with their respective Idler arms...The Pitman Arm and Idler are both move horizontally left and right in the direction parallel to the center tube. This appears to be the correct Geometry to reduce wear on Pin Bushings at ends of center rod. they are mounted with 3 bolts each and their axis of rotation is vertical 90 degrees, dur to the rotated holes on the castings.

When we look at the Manual Box and it's associated Idler Assembly, the pitman arm and Idler arm are moving left to right at about 10 degrees off of horizontal because the 4 mount holes are rotated on the crossmember, and the Vertical axis of rotation for both is 90 degrees to the 4 hole pattern in the castings. as the crossmember has rotated mount holes, it appears that the pin bushings will suffer more wear.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY JAGUAR DID THIS? is it to help the car re- center to straight ahead?

Am i wrong in wanting to CUT and re plug weld the captured nut plate so that the mounting pattern for the idler and steering box allows for a vertical axis and less wear on the pin bushings?

Research on Steering Options 1964 3.8S

Purchased car without steering box. Obtained a 20:1 ratio manual box (5 turns on input selector shaft). Obtained a manual Idler with 2 lockstops from MorseJag on ebay in england to replace the PAS Idler (1LO 3866). This car was originally set up with power steering Burman Unit LHD. The proof is that the center tube has the beefy ends on it (1LO6659 LH & 1LO6640 RH) with 16 3/4" center to center on the tapered bushings. The manual steering setup uses a shorter centertube with different end links. The problem is do i have the wrong crossmember causing the 4 mounting holes on each side to be rotated, incorrect pitman arm / idler arm geometry? or do i have the wrong castings for idler and steering box?

At this point i am willing to drill out the spot welds on the captured nut plates inside the crossmember, and either rotate them on center or choose one of the 4 holes as the rotation point and plug weld the captured nut backing plates back to the inner face of the crossmember after oval shaping the existing round holes with a die grinder.
Rack and pinion would be my last option, if i were to put power steering on her, i would probably look for a 70's chevy or range rover power box to keep the ackerman angles and drop arm setup with a custom bracket.
ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Mk2 outer rubber door glass seals.

I have just fitted the original outer door glass seals to my 1963 mk2. It's pretty obvious that they are totally inadequate. Apparently the S type had a rubber wiper type seal and I was wondering if anyone could guide me to the parts needed to upgrade mine. I believe they slide into the top chrome trim, which obviously differs from the earlier one. Part numbers of the seal and chrome trim would be most helpful.

Jaguar MK2 Center Console and Radio Reassembly

Hello all,

I was installing a set of speaker behind the radio grille this winter and have foolishly waited until the spring to reassemble the centre console and radio.

I would appreciate if someone can indicate if I am on the right track for reassembly.

I believe this metal tab (outlined in green) on the radio fascia simply slips underneath the centre console?

The radio reattached back to the dash via 4 screws:

The centre console is held in place with one nut:

S Type Rear Bumper help

Anyone have pictures of the mounting points on the rear bumper? Mine have been totally abused by an idiot. I need a picture of the original capture nuts.

Here's how some dolt tried to replicate them. You can see an original hole in the first picture where they didn't cut into into the mount for their hack solution.

Won�t start - update

Ok so process of elimination I�ve narrowed it down.
62 Mk II with a Frankenstein motor, as stated in other thread.

the car will start but won�t run.

It�s starting on the aux carb, but for some reason the carbs don�t provide fuel for running.

yet if I sweep my finger under the dash pot after trying to, it�s wet with gasoline.

so fuel is reaching the needle?

Does anyone recognize this type of oil pressure sensor on a 1962 Jaguar MK2?
I have a leak at this sensor and need to replace it.
However, I can�t seem to find this model

Can I use a standard model available from regular suppliers given that the question on the thread ?
