Requesting info re Vehicle Connectivity Software update/versions

My 2020 F-Type has Vehicle Connectivity System 14.2, which I want to update. JLRNA (ext.#9) tells me the latest version is 20.2, which I'm assuming would add the ability to connect the car to an external hotspot (which a Forum member with a 2020 XE and v.20.2 told me is included with that version).

JLRNA has confirmed that v20.2 is racked up and ready for my download as soon as I re-establish mobile data connectivity (but they couldn't point me to any release notes re version features). A new mobile data provider's micro-SIM has failed to connect. JLRNA advises that a dealership can update the Vehicle Connectivity System to 20.2 via hardwiring (without mobile data), but that I'd have to pay for that service. (However, I'm advised by the federal court's class-action settlement administrator re George v. JLRNA that I'm entitled to no-cost InControl upgrades to enable OTA software updates, but I haven't yet seen a dealership about that.)

Before I try the dealership, I'd like to know if anyone here has information about accessing release notes that would detail the features/capabilities of the Connectivity System versions, in particular, whether v20.2 would indeed let my car connect to my phone's hotspot, to access the real-time traffic info I've paid for along with map updates, via Jaguar.here.com.

Alternatively, can anyone recommend a low-cost, data-only mobile data micro-SIM provider that actually works with the F-Type? After JLR's complimentary AT&T mobile data expired, I had no-cost (free 100MB/month of data) service from a provider called FreeUp Mobile that used the T-Mobile network, but my well-functioning plan was discontinued after a year (during which I didn't know I could have requested the v20.2 download). Then I unsuccessfully tried another low-cost T-Mobile network user called UltraMobile, but it lacked the bands/channels needed by the InControl system. I don't want to pay a min. $10/month for mobile data just for occasional access to real-time traffic and re-routing capabilities, which is why I'm hoping to get the external-hotspot connection option, so I can use my phone's connectivity.

Any advice about any of this would be appreciated.

Finding Michelin Pilot Sport S5 tires

Hi everyone....
I need to purchase new tires for my F-Type R sports car. Since I have to buy tires, Im in search to locate the new Pilot Sport S5 tires. I want to get, 265/35R20 for the front and 305/30R20 tire for the rear.
TireRack has the 265/35R20 tires for the front. They do not have the 305/30R20 tire size for the rear.
Has anyone purchased tires in this size, being the Pilot Sport S5 tire?
does anyone know where one can purchase the rear tires in the 305 size?

Srs light stuck on

Hello everyone, I have swapped the interior on my 2014 jaguar f type from oyster to red interior from a 2017 jaguar f type. I now have a srs code that when I clear will not go away. When I use my code scanner it clearly shows the vin from the old car which ends in 0258 and the last 4 of my vin is 4858. I did swap the modules over from the original seats to the new seats to get them out of inch mode. Is there anyway that I can reset this light or reprogram the seats to have the same vin as my car now to get rid of the light?

Coolant elbow into water pump dilemma.

Generally accepted point of failure is the plastic elbow that connects the thermostat to the water pump. Thought the brass replacement might be the solution but 20,000 miles after changing out the elbow with the kit from RKX which includes a new O ring seal and plastic keeper/release I now have two motors with pretty good leaks at the brass elbow where it goes into the water pump. I know people who tried the aftermarket complete metal pipe kit have had problems with the aftermarket O ring seals. I'm thinking this little seal might be a similarly weak link. I have a couple new kits coming via Amazon but wondering if I can match up the O ring seal with something more durable. I don't think the factory seal is available without an entire water pump attached?

2018 F-type Apple carplay options (NOT BOSCH NOR HARMON)

Good afternoon all. My name is Rian. I have a 2018 Jaguar F-type and it is my favorite car I have ever owned. In my opinion, its only drawback is the infotainment system, more specifically, the lack on apple carplay. Now, I did some research on the matter and most people on the forums have went with some sort of piggyback add-on unit that fits to either a Bosch or Harmon head unit. My car being an 18' with the updated screen graphics, I thought that it was a Harmon unit. So I ordered a Harmon Carplay receiver. Much to my surprise, when I pulled the rear console cover off of my F-type coupe to inspect, I found that head unit does not look like a Bosch nor Harmon. Upon further investigation there was a small "switchover "window that where some cars received a newer headunit but with the crappy, older/smaller screen. I understand that the 2019 cars got a larger screen with Apple Carplay capabilities.

So here's where things get dicey. From what I have researched, my car is eligible the OEM larger screen and it will work with the current electronics but it is not as "plug and play" as it sounds. Apparently, in order for the screen to be swapped, some trimming needs to happen to fit as well as a new bracket, bezel and upper aluminum trim piece that works with the larger 10.2 inch screen. Not to mention, once the screen is installed, then it has to be programmed by JLR to the newer graphics. I really would prefer NOT to go down the route of the newer screen as I do not want to cut, trim and program. Is there any other method that will work for the "NON BOSCH/ HARMON" (later INTOUCH pro) radio that I do not have to jump through those hoops. Hell, I wouldnt mind one of those android screen units if it would work with my current head unit. I would really appreciate the help yall. Im at my wits end here. Help--Check Engine Light

I know this is a much discussed matter, but my CEL just came on after a lengthy road trip and I'm 4 hours from the nearest dealer. I want to have Auto Zone or other local auto parts stores hook up their OBD device but I'm afraid of the battery discharge problem I've read about on here and am wondering if their equipment will actually provide the reason for the CEL. Does anyone know if this method will explain the reason for the CEL and if the battery terminal method becomes necessary, will it be necessary to reset things like the seat and window memories, trip computers, etc.?

More power with manual trans

I have a 2016 340hp car with a manual. The clutch was replaced a few years ago by a previous owner (so I'm told), but I do not know what clutch is in it. It's moderately heavy and works fine, but that's the extent of my knowledge. My question is around how cautious I should be adding power. I figure I'm likely fine up to 400hp, since this transmission came in the 380hp variant. From what I can find, the trans itself is rated around 400 ft. lb. But is there a general "feel" for what is safe? I'm more concerned about longevity of parts than every last hp since the car is purely street driven (my daily).

Four owners, still not doing well

Here is a link to one of the most substantive documentaries on Jaguar. At nearly 2 hours, it requires some serious seat time, but IMO, well worth it. Starts with Swallow Sidecar and goes right up to the proposed pink and blue replacements. Important point is that all 4 owners/holders thought they were doing right by Jaguar: British Leyland/British Motor Holdings, Jaguar PLC, Ford and Tata. How each 'owner' identified problem areas and sought to rectify them. I am wishing Jaguar the best as they move forward.

Steering wheel vibrations

Hello, please help.

When driving above 100 km/h and trying to brake, very large vibrations are transferred to the steering wheel, the steering wheel starts to move left and right, vibrating heavily. By releasing the braking, the problem disappears. The same vibrations will appear when I hit an unevenness in the road. I will add that the discs, pads, rim and tires are new. Any of you had something similar? Where to look for the cause?

Knowing that the OEM offset for the majority of wheels is +55 front and +38 rear, I added 15mm adapters on the front and 25mm on the rear. The adapters are from Bonoss. They are very well made and I got some great emails from them during the process to make sure everything was to my liking and to the spec I ordered. I highly recommend them. So my net offset is +40 in the front and +13 in the rear. Controversial, I know! I got these values after doing some searches and on line calculations, but only after my installation did see posts about how anything more than 17mm on the back will lead to all manner of destruction and devastation. Well I have had them on for several months now and I have had zero rubbing or any other issues. Lucky? Maybe. Granted my car is NOT lowered, though I wish I could, but I already scrape the little flappy thing on the front on all manner of driveways and the "speed cushions" here in Nashville. I did trim the non-threaded portion of the studs on the front. Please take note of how I protected the rest of the car from the sparks emanating from my angle grinder. I then went over the cut end with a file to clean it up nicely. I like the stance now, but some might find the rear to be poking out too much. I get it. Let me know what y'all think. As always, I truly appreciate everyone's thoughts, opinions, insight, expertise, good natured ribbing, and even bad natured ribbing.
