First time poster and never had a Jaguar before. I am in need of a more practical vehicle but still fun to drive and of all SUVs I've looked at it appears the supercharged F-pace is the way to go. I will be coming out of my beloved 2018 BMW 540i which I absolutely adore but I hope the F-pace will not disappoint. My question is around reliability and what are the common issues potentially known with these vehicles and engines. I will be looking at the older examples and hoping to find a reasonable deal with CPO. If you have experience and knowledge to chime in please do. Thank you!

I would recommend the S model. Had a '17 S and it was a great car, no issues. Coming out of an '18 540i, you may be disappointed in the tech and infotainment system though. It's not the latest and greatest out there. However, make sure to get the ICTP with the larger screen and no physical buttons on the side. The tech and some minor complaints some have about not being as luxurious as people hoped, doesn't bother me, because it is a true driver's car. If you want higher tech and more lux, Jag isn't the car for you and weren't designed as such. Hope this helps, just my opinion. Others may vary.

Six out of the seven late model Jags my wife and I have owned have had the supercharged V6. Our E-PACE R-Dynamic P300 SE has the turbo I4 and I don’t like it. Turbo and/or transmission lag. On a good day of highway driving we might get 30 mpg but 27-28 mpg is about what to be expected. With the added weight and size of the F-PACE, the supercharged V6 is the way to go. Our 2018 F-PACE S rides and handles a lot like the 2004 Toyota 4Runner we used to own. The Jag is much, much faster, quieter and gets better gas mileage. On our recent ‘round trip between New Hampshire and Texas our F-PACE S usually got 23-24 mpg on the highway with the occasional 27 mpg. Please note that I’m talking about real mpg- not what the instrument panel or Jaguar Remote provides. As with all other vehicles we’ve owned that offered mpg as a feature, they’ve all been 1-2 mpg optimistic. Reliability on the supercharged V6 Jags we’ve owned has been great up through 61,000 miles (we’ve only had two of our vehicles go that far). As I’ve learned, Jags have many quirks that may annoy the uninitiated Let’s hope that I don’t jinx myself though. Take a back-to-back spin with the turbo I4 and supercharged V6. The turbo I4s only seem to be the 25t or 250 ps (hp) version. I haven’t seen any with a 300 ps (hp) engine. BTW, the S comes with a 380 hp supercharged V6; ~50% more horsepower than the turbo I4.
