Cruise control slow to respond to input?

Under different circumstances I might not have even noticed, but having a pair of 2017 35t Jags provides an interesting opportunity for comparison. The cruise control on my XE is crisp and precise in its response to button inputs. Tap the plus key and it engages at current speed. Foot off the gas, tap it again and set speed increases by 1. The cruise control on my wife's F-Pace is much less precise. You have to press and hold the plus key to engage the cruise control, and individual taps on either the plus or minus keys are ignored. It's a press-and-hold and maybe even step on the gas to increase set speed.

Is is this normal? Are there two different cruise control systems? If it matters, my XE is equipped with the Prestige package while the F-Pace has the Premium package. Both systems work, it's just that the one in the F-Pace is quite frustrating after you get used to the one in the XE.

Thanks for any insights!

Your experience with the need to hold the buttons in longer on the F-Pace has been noted on the F-Type as well which shares the same switch pack parts. It appears to be due to the resistances chosen for the resistive ladder that differentiates between the different switch presses so they can share the same pair of wires back to the fuse box module which then processes them.

It could be that they have changed the part on the XE (and hopefully newer F-Types and F-Paces) to resolve this as Jaguar were aware of the complaints when I raised it with my dealer.

Thanks Dave. Very helpful. A little reminiscent of the days when Joe Lucas (aka, the Prince of darkness) ruled the roost. :-O as near as I can tell, he didn't really hold the patent on the short-circuit; I guess that was just a fringe benefit of his job.

If I can figure out how to tell when each was made I'll be glad to tell everyone so they may know when the change-over happened...if it did happen.

Another curious difference between the XE and F-pace: the side-view mirrors host a floodlight that illuminates the ground on both sides of these vehicles. However, my wife's F-pace shines the name Jaguar on the ground. My XE does not. So now I'm looking for ways to make it create the bat signal when the floodlights are on!

Thanks again Dave.
