F-Pace Rear quarter glass molding

Got a small ding in the chrome molding surrounding the rear quarter glass. It appears that the molding is only available by purchasing the entire glass ? Is that right ....

Yup, found that out the hard way as well, and its about 350$ ....Brought it to the bodyshop for correction on mine...

Thanks - and it sounds like from what I can find the molding is near impossible to remove. Is the molding aluminum or SS. Considered trying PDR even ...

Whitefpace 07-24-2018 09:01 AM

Actually the molding is removed easily, it has simple locking tabs. I think its aluminum with a Chrome finish, not 100% sure. I blacked mine out after dent removal

That's exciting news. And so we are talking about the same window aren't we. The stationary side rear window behind the rear door ? Rear quarter panel ...

Wonder why Jaguar would only sell it mounted to the glass. If I can get it off we may do a little PDR work on it.

Only sold as this complete assembly...

Right, well you say the molding is easily removed. Do you mean once the glass is removed from the car ... or still in the car ?

And did a body shop remove the molding for you and attempt to repair it and re-install ? All without removing the glass from the car.

You can actually easily (but carefully) peel the trim off, starting at the rear curve, glass stays in place . Bodyshop should have no trouble whatsoever doing it for you. I had a few dents in mine, it was quite easily corrected by the bodyshop.

Thanks - sorry to have so many questions ... so the body shop removed it and removed the dent ?

Then was able to put it back on and it stayed in place ?

Again sorry to bug you so much but this is exactly our issue and I don't mind spending the money but replacing a glued in OEM glass typically comes with issues down the road in my experience.

“so the body shop removed it and removed the dent ? “
Yes.

“Then was able to put it back on and it stayed in place ?”

Yes. Glass stayed on the car, just the trim piece is removed, repaired and reinstalled
