Still think the F Type is a great car, but can’t agree with much of the 911 bashing in the thread.
+1. The F-Type has a visceral appeal that is perfect for recreational driving on-road, but were I to go racing again, the Porsche would be my weapon of choice. 0-60 be damned. That has no place in a rolling start race.

Better than 50/50? I'd still take the legendary handling of a 944 over the 911s many digitally managed vices.

The question is, are you building a sublime drivers car or a sub-optimized numbers car?

The 992 has little choice but to sub-optimize for numbers as 3450 lbs over 343 whp is not fundamentally competitive in 2020. Not at $120K base price, anyway. An old 2014-15 F-Type V8 is about 120 lbs heavier, but packs 155 more whp, so balance is an option.

Frankly, one rev in place and the fight for hearts and minds is over.

I've got something else for you to think about. I had an email from the local MB dealer offering me a E Wagon. So I looked on line. The E Wagon will do 0-60 in 5.1 the same as my F-type. No wonder JLR sold 2280 F's last year. After the beautiful lines and the great sound there is just too much weight, and that's an engineering shortcoming. God help us if the car had been made out of steel, it would have weighed 5000 pounds.

sorry ... I’m a Jag and porsche guy, but the porsche will win. Trash it all you like... it’s a great daily driver. Front trunk ... rear seat storage... interior space.

The PDK, is stupid fast. It’s not always about torque. Tell that to rotary guys. I race RX7’s, and will pull on a mustang GT on the straights... let’s not talk about the turns.

The jaguar is beautiful and beats Porsche in exterior design. The supercharged V8 feels amazing, but a porsche will win overall..

I’ll drag race you in my 2007 911 TT... give me a shout if you are ever in Dallas.

There is no question that a 911 handles better than an F-Type, but the Motor Trend guys came back with a long-term verdict (link below) that does give the RWD F-Type R more credit than their video review (after a tire swap for Michelin Pilot Super Sports). With the Michelins, the F-Type R did the MT figure-eight course in 24 seconds flat, which is quite good.

Thats funny....I've driven the 720s several times and drive with 5 friends that own them just about every weekend. Been to the drag strip with them multiple times. No doubt its fast but certainly not easy to launch!
More to the point..apples to apples...If it were AWD it would be even faster 0-60 and most likely in the qtr mile! lol

I certainly love the RWD characteristics (I do own a 500hp 2400lb Cobra after all) but launch control and AWD - when compared to a similar car with RWD - the AWD will win at least in a straight line from a dead stop. Isn't that what this thread was about in the first place?

Here's my friends 840HP RWD Demon vs my SVR - AWD...thats 265HP more! The Demon should destroy me even if I got the jump, but the Jag hangs in and gives a great fight. 1/8th mile seems dead even. And my buddy ran that Demon to a 9.9 that day so he knows how to wheel it.
