Any F-type owners who own or have driven an F-Pace SVR? Curious how the vehicle handles drives? Not much on the F-Pace forum regarding SVR's.

 

A friend of my neighbor down the street just got one in white - a very sexy looking beast. My first sighting of one in the wild - very impressed. Sound is awesome, similar to the f type, he was still in break-in period but pushed it enough to say he was surprised by the power, and he's owned several fast cars. I sat in it, the interior is very impressive. Thinking about one for myself....

 

I was considering one and then went off it, but they do look good. I havent driven one but I was keeping a close eye on the launch reviews for the 2020 XE which were driven by journalists in France immediately before the F Pace SVR. At least one reviewer commented that as good as the F Pace SVR is in handling, it cant compete with the XE and essentially it lost shine by being driven back to back with the XE. The XE does handle really well but it doesnt sit as flat as the F Type, so ultimately dont expect it to handle like the F Type.

One plus is that with rear windows you will be able to open them up and get the exhaust noise inside.

 

With all that power...it’s still an SUV. Suitable for soccer moms only! ( I know, that statement is inappropriate on so many levels)

 

Received my silver Fpace SVR about 4,000. miles ago.

Handles very well for a SUV … corners nice and flat. Obviously heavier than the F type and could use more than the 550 h.p. offered.
Very nice interior and it is very comfortable on the road... the exhaust note is excellent.

In comparison, my F type R is very slightly raspier or maybe motorcycle sounding, while the F pace SVR is deeper and refined. I like the sound of the F pace better.

Some days I think I would prefer the F type if I had to choose and sometimes the F pace... I guess they are tied for favourite car depending on the day. My wife would prefer the F pace, does like the F type though regardless.

For acceleration the F Type R is clearly faster, but the F Pace is good for a SUV... I have the Velocity tune in the F type and its 600+ h.p. feels about right, so the F pace likely needs a bit more to really scream.

For those interested, I get about 60% of the thumbs up and blank stares from others around the F pace as compared to the F type and with the Ftype other (mainly male) drivers act like a bunch of goofs on the road around the car ( tailing close, having to pass me no matter what the situation), but this behavior does not seem to occur with the F pace ( except for a few SUV drivers)

Highly recommend you see about taking one for a drive. I have a couple of red Jaguars (Italian racing red) and thought about the same on the Fpace but the red pallet on this offering looked different, and sort of reminded me of a tomatoe, so I went with the silver.. nice deep finish.

Yeah...but that’s got nothing to do with vehicles.

 

I'm actually really starting to like "performance" SUV's and could totally see myself having one in the stable one day. Utility, power, comfort, and great noises. Would be a nice stablemate for a not so practical car *cough* F-Type.

 

Shouldn't the SVR have 575PS?

 

Well, while I think about performance oriented winter rats, the S.O. looks at the largest of pickup trucks.

We like our F Pace S. It would clearly be better with the V8, because what isn't?

But out of the performance SUV market, I would have a really hard time not getting a Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.

 

I'll check it out. Still a way's off and will likely loose the battel for what I'd like to have.

Im in Vegas atm and got a trackhawk for 4 days via turo

ive driven an RR sport svr and this thing is in another league in terms of acceleration, it’s a very noticeable gap

the ajv8 just lacks the ***** to overcome 2tonne + of weight in an RR, but the trackhawk makes it feel effortless. The superchager whine is addictive, and so after this post I’ll be searching for that intake thread lol

even handles pretty well too - I’ve driven a regular srt cherokee extensively and didn’t like the vagueness of the steering off centre, but the trackhawk has fixed that and overall you get this feeling of solid’ness through the drivetrain - watched a video by savagegeese, he gets it up on hoist and talks about how beefed up the hardware is over regular srt

interior trim quality, buttons, stalks etc, are as good as pre touch screen duo jag/rr too imo, but trackhawk is even nicer inside than f pace svr as it’s full leather - full doors, upper and lower dash, and it’s good quality leather too, the f pace has those horrible slabs of plastic for doors that also blend into speaker grilles which look and feel so cheap

cliffs: im a fan, the engine dominates the experience and rest of the car is good enough to warrant the buy in. For me personally, since I already have a supercharged v8 daily in f type, I’m more inclined to go for the lighter, smaller, hot hatch handling of the stelvio qv over any of the fast suv’s

I must be very ignorant: I'm surprised at the success of this relatively new segment of "performance SUVs". Who buys them, and why?

No, but it is about how F Type owners in particular feel about driving the SVR. That would be a different perspective to drivers of other cars, I think, so it belongs in here.
