anyone here debadge their f-type?

Hello, has anyone here debadged the back of their f-type? I was thinking about getting some new badges and then getting them blacked out. But then I was thinking that it might be cool to simply debadge the back of my f-type. I'm probably the youngest guy on this forum so I'm guessing that many here would never fathom doing such a thing.

Never been a fan of debadging. Always makes the car look off.

A few people here have plastidipped their badges though.

Timbo 01-15-2015 05:52 PM

And im one of them, plastidipped my new badges black (i hate chrome).
Will try and get some pics tomorrow if its dry.

Thanks Timbo! Really looking forward to those pics!

There were pics in just last week or two by someone who debadged the rear, leaving only the Leaper on the deck lid.

Sorry, don't remember the name of the poster.

I think you'll probably have to fill some holes on the spoiler if the leaper comes off.

Also there are a few pretty young guys on here. You never know

Yes. You may well not be the youngest?

I'm considering de-badging mine when in the workshop next week (dropping it 1.3inches). The Plasti Dip I've seen so far looks rubbish/cheap imo.

I may be one of the oldest and will de-badge anything that isn't pinned on. After a while you get pretty good with dental floss. I'll see what comes off when I get the car.

Should we do an age survey? I'm in running for oldest group!

I'm as new as the first Vette.

I never understood debadging.....I would think that people would want onlookers to identify the car. That said, I hate when a car has too many badges to describe AWD, trim and engine size....

For example, the original 2011 XJ was nice with only the trunk leaper....now, it's the leaper, plus "Jaguar" written out plus 3.0 plus AWD....so cheesy Japanese.

On the F-Type, I would probably just remove "Jaguar" on the spoiler and leave the leaper....

I came home from the hospital as a newborn in a new split window.

Felix Wankel develops the rotary internal combustion engine the year I was born.

Some people like a "clean" look.

I was born on the usa bicentennial

The body shop told me that there might be a pin hole through the car metal for the leaper so I might get the leaper blacked out and then debadge everything else ("ftype, jaguar"). That would look pretty tight I think.

jag_guy_2020 01-15-2015 09:16 PM

Does anyone here know where I can buy a good Jaguar leaper for the back? I think the local jag dealer parts department quoted me over $35. Can you recommend a cheaper option?

shift 01-15-2015 10:59 PM

try eBay...

The leaper is definitely pinned into located holes on the rear deck.

jag_guy_2020 01-15-2015 11:47 PM

thanks for the info. in that case I'm going to debadge everything except the leaper and black it out.
