Blind Spot Monitor Freeze-up.

I've only had that happen once that I am aware of, and it was when I jumped in the car and wacked it straight into drive after starting and pulled off (I was trying to be as quiet as you can in an F Type, and leave the area before the curtains started twitching!) I wondered if it was an electrical loading issue while various modules were still booting up? I know with both my X350s if I pull away before the touch screen has initialised then the blueooth phone module won't initialise until the car is restarted. Sometimes the radio switches from the amp driven mode into the basic head unit mode as well. Interestingly the X-Type doesn't do it, and it shares the same telematics system as the X350.
I've hooked the F Type up to SDD since then and no codes were logged for the BSM so I won't get worried its broken unless it starts doing it frequently.
When I first got my F Type I found the rear corner visibility utterly terrible (coupe) and used the BSM a lot, but now I've got used to driving it I barely use it as actually its not quite as hard to see the blind spots as you initially think. I do love the rear collision detection though when carefully backing out of a blind parking space. It has a decent range on it too - about 50 yards which gives loads of warning so you can pull back in safely to let cars past. It's one of those things I would always specify on a car now I've tried it.

I had it happen on my previous car a few times. It used cameras for detection and certain lighting conditions would send it out to pasture. The dealer flashed updates to both DDU and PDU and that issue went away. Not sure where the smarts for that live in the F-Type, but there may be an update. I asked if there were any updates when I took mine in, but there was nothing at the time.

Since last Friday, I've had no issue. When this did happen on Friday, it presented no error message. If you take it in for service, please let us know what transpires.

I want to revive this thread as the blind spot monitors on my car always seem to be inoperable. The conditions when it occurs: Highway speed, after 4 miles of driving. Occasionally, on really long trips, it will randomly become available again. I have taken it to the dealer and they could not replicate the problem, but of course, as soon as I leave the dealer and hop on the interstate home, BOOM the blind spot monitors are unavailable. Thankfully, I have learned how to drive the car to get around not having them working (accelerate before changing lanes). But having a huge yellow triangle in the dash is unsettling. Anyone having this problem or had this problem repaired?
