Boot / trunk drainage on convertible

The obvious downside of a convertible in the UK is the rain (especially at the moment).

However I noticed this morning on opening the boot lid that the tray / gulley which sits under the spoiler and has the windscreen washer fluid filler cap in it, was full of rain water. Has anyone else seen this happen?

It hadn't filled quite up to the level of the rubber boot seal but wasn't far off. Seems strange that this should fill with water and risk flooding the boot itself. Is there some drainage that is supposed to deal with this?

There are drains there. Check to make sure yours hasn't gotten clogged with dirt and debris.

+1. Three drain holes in the deck behind the hatch seal:

Thanks guys. Found it, was full of gunk and hard to spot. (Here is only the single drainage hole in the centre on mine).

Here's hoping the rain stops now.

I'm curious whether the 3 holes are only found on the coupes, or whether they went to 3 holes on all later models after discovering the potential for clogging.

My 2016 vert only has 1 hole in center, but where the black plastic left/right edges meet metal, they seem to hover (as if to drain underneath). I can inspect closer and report back.

Same on the '14 convertible.

Likewise. One central drainage point on my '14 UK convertible

We only need one drainage hole since we don't drive our convertibles in the rain. We would get wet.

My new '16 coupe has 3 holes. More water from the openings around the coupe deck lid?

Yep, that would be my guess. Convertible lid is flat, which doesn't channel water like the sloping coupe lid.
