Brake pad warning light- after putting on new pads

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone has seen this. I replaced the stock pads with porterfields and after putting around 100 miles on them, the Brake Pad warning came on saying I needed new pads. It happened while driving and all I can think about is that one of the sensors came undone but I was pretty careful about putting them back on without damaging them. Anyone else have this? Thanks.

You've either put the sensor on incorrectly or damaged it. The sensor is real easy to damage as it gets very brittle.

+1. What he said. A new one is about $60.

What's interesting is that it didn't happen until I was halfway to Vegas. I'll check them all. Is there a way to test it with a voltmeter? Resistance possibly when grounded vs non-grounded?

It becomes a ground when worn.

If all else fails find which sensor is dud and causing the message then simply cut and strip the wires up near the plug in the wheel well, twist them together & wrap with insulation tape and zip tie out of the way.

it must un-ground when worn. It looks like the rear sensor came loose and broke off during driving. I simply grounded the wire again and the light went off. I'll fix it soon enough.

Wouldn’t you expect the Brits to do it backwards.
