Why don't you want to follow the recommend service maintenance schedule?

Empirical evidence indicates that the first oil change should be done as Lance states, at the end of break-in, and after that, the annual service is acceptable.

The evidence I have is my own used oil analyses. I had it tested at 4200 miles and again at 6500 miles. At 6500 it was still good, but showing some accumulation of break-in wear material. Nothing alarming by any stretch, but it was suggested to change the oil so that normal (non-break-in) wear could be tracked.
